What an Easter weekend I had. I started out being optimistic about being “good,” with my eating and then completely failed on Saturday, the day before Easter.
We had a wonderful setting for the gathering. We were on the Oregon Coast, and it was a perfect day. There were no clouds; a little windy, but warm.
Then the family started coming. One had my favorite bean casserole. Another had ham that was perfect. Then there was the spaghetti, made just right. Of course the scalloped potatoes.
Before we ate the main course, there were the appetizers. There was shrimp with some wonderful cocktail sauce. The deviled eggs were beyond description, and the homemade dip for the relish dish, was outstanding.
After I pigged out on all of that there were the desserts! Apple pie; perfect brownies; cupcakes, and chocolate pudding pie.
So, my dream of being good lasted only as long as I didn’t see the food. Once I saw it I fell apart quickly.
That happens to all of us in our daily lives. We “promise” to not sin, but when the temptation comes we often fall apart. We want the main dish of life , and the dessert as well.
Temptation for food, or our own desires in our lives are hard, at best, to conquer. That is when we need to turn to God. We need to depend on Him. If we think we can go life without God, Dr. Phil would ask, “How is that working for you?”
Always keep God on your side. When He is on you side, who can be against you?
Remember:
You are never alone.
You are never forsaken.
You are never unloved.
And above all…never, ever, give up!
