Top selling Books with Autographs Given Away Free.

5 Top Selling Books Given Away Free to Five Lucky People

I am going to try something totally different for the next few days. Starting now 12-11-09 until 12-14-09 I am going to give away five top selling books with the author’s autographs and personal notes in them. These will be excellent Charitmas presents or for yourself.

In the past I held a drawing to see who will get them. I am not doing that this time. These books will go to the first five people who sign up for my free newsletter.

I am going to describe each book to show you that they are not just any book, but top quality, and nationally known:

The Shack: Written by William Paul Young

Yes I said, The Shack. I met William Paul Young at a writer’s conference, and two other times after that. He not only wrote a personal to you the reader but he autographed it. I will be giving away two copies of this book.

This book has sold over 7 million copies so far, and is still on the top selling list of many of the top selling lists.  This book started out as a book just written to his children and close friends. Some of those friends told him to send copies to some of the other friends on his list. He did and the rest is history. The book took off faster than Young and his partners could handle.

The book is about questioning God, and how to survive after you have lost a loved one. It has a very unusual approach as what God, the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit look and act like.

The Shack is a little cabin up by a lake, and the symbolism of the shack is that it has the door to your heart that you sometimes need to open to grow.

( I looked for the prices of  The Shack, in the stores, and the cheapist I could fine was $10.50 at Walmart. You can order it right off of this site by clicking the Amazon icon. It is only $6.00 here. Even with shipping it is cheaper than any store, and delivered right ot your door.  Great Christmas present.)

Three Cups of Tea: By David Oliver Relin.

Three Cups of Tea, is one of the top selling books for the last three years. It was number 1 on the New York Times best selling list for many months.

It is the story of Greg Mortenson, and his quest to build schools in Afghanistan. He felt that if the children had a proper education that there wouldn’t be many going into the Taliban terrorist camps as soldiers. He was doing this to promote peace one school at a time. The troubles and trail he went through to get this project started, and the burden of getting all the equipment need to the sites is well worth the read.

Not only did David autograph the book, he also wrote a personal note. I met him at a signing, and we had a nice conversation.

The Lord of the Films: by J. W. Braun.

This is the unofficial, official guide to the several movies about The Lord of the Rings. The author put in many hours of research, and study to give you everything about the background and making of the films.

It is autographed by J. W.  It is full of pictures from the sets during the film making, and statements by the actors, and producers. The forward is written by Clifford Broadway who played a soldier in the movies.

A must have for anyone who has followed these fun and exciting movies.

Creed of Old Montana: by Stephen Bly.

Stephan Bly has written over 100 books. He has won the prestigious Christy Award. It is even written in large print, so it will be easy on the eyes.

I met Stephan at a writer’s conference in Oregon. He is a great keynote speaker, and easy to sit and talk with.

Here is the exciting part. This will not be a drawing. These books will go to the first 5 people who sign up for my free newsletter. The first one to sign-up will have the choice of any of the five books, and then each one after that will choose.

To do this is very simple. Go over to the right sidebar, and click on the icon that speaks about signing up for the newsletter. Notice that it also says you will be able to download a free eBook, called, The Top 25 Ways to Survive in a Troubled World.

So, you will get a free book if you are one of the first five people to sign up; a free newsletter that has excerpts from my book, Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World. Becoming Famous before you are Famous, is in process. I am writing it with Michael Clark from Jacksonville, FL. It will speak about Facebook Twitter, My Space, Friendster, Linkedin, etc. You will be able to read each chapter as it is first written, and will help by making suggestions on how to improve it. It will be “our,” book.

Take time to sign-up, and receive one of these wonderful books. There is no obligation to stay with the newsletter. There is an opt-out area at the bottom of each issue.

A Great newsletter and Free eBook Are Just the Beginning

A Great Newsletter and Free eBook are Just the Beginning

It has been a while since I informed you of what it means to subscribe to my newsletter. Let me list what it means:

1. You get a great newsletter that has an 88% top rating for good content, and style.
2. When you subscribe, you get a free eBook to download called, The Top 25 Ways to Survive in a Troubled World. It is full of “How to,” ideas on how to cope in a not so friendly world.
3. When you subscribe, you are also automatically placed in all future drawings for free books that are top sellers, and most have the author’s autograph, and personal notes in them.
4. A couple of examples of what books will be given away are:
• The Shack, written by William Paul Young. I met Paul at a conference and had a chance to talk to him personally. He is a very interesting man, and if you win this book, I will share with just you the conversation I had with him. It is a fascinating story of his childhood that was full of abuse, and trials. He also shared his troubled years of when he had an affair, and how he was able to save his marriage. You will really enjoy his story. The Shack has been # 1 on the New York Times best selling list for 58 weeks straight.
• Three Cups of Tea, written by David Relin, for Greg Mortenson. It is about a journey that Mortenson went on to try to provide schools for the children of Afghanistan, and Pakistan, even though they are controlled by the Taliban. Three Cups of tea, has been # 1 in its category for 152 weeks straight. I also met David Relin, and he shared his story that will only be given to the person who wins the book. Both books have the author’s autograph and personal notes.

5. The newsletter has four pages:
• The first page will have excerpts from my new book, Close Encounters of the Heavenly Kind: Life Beyond Bumper Stickers. There have been many excerpts that are in the archives of this site you can read, and on the post yesterday was another one. I said I would have one today, but I thought it was important for you to know about all the goodies that are available to you, just by subscribing. I will put the follow-up excerpt in tomorrow’s post.
• Another page has sports. Mostly Oregon State University sports. I am a die hard Beaver fan that bleeds orange. I will have reports from all of the sports at OSU, but mostly the major ones like, football, basketball, and baseball. There will personal looks at some of the players, and enough statistics to chock that famous horse. I will also report on sports from other colleges and pros., as I see the need to cover them.
• The third page is a travel page. I have been having guest travelers share their experiences as they travel. People have subscribed to the newsletter just to read the travel page. The next newsletter will have Ron Kelemen sharing his experiences in India. He has been to Mumbai. He can share his thoughts on what the hotel that was attacked was like, and the climate there while he visited. He will also be sharing his travels on the roads most tourists do not go on.
• The last page will be a resource page that will have different kinds of articles that will help those who are seeking ways to cope in a troubled world. This is a very popular page of the newsletter.
• The front page will also have a lead in section that will talk about the current events going on with my author world, plus updates on past articles that need addressing.

As for the website www.dougbolton.com, the ratings are also very high from those who come to it. Please check the endorsement tab that is at the top. You will read, not only endorsements for, Close Encounters of the Heavenly Kind: Life beyond Bumper Stickers, but there will be endorsements for the site itself. I am very pleased with all of the endorsements, and feel free to add your own thoughts that will be placed on the endorsement page in the future. (If they are nice, of course.)

Check out the “about the author,” tab, and if you still like me after that I will have you hooked!

The archives have all the back newsletter issues. I haven’t posted the last few, but they will be there in the future.

You will also see a tab that sends you directly to my blog: www.depressionsuppressed.com. There, I have many articles on ways to cope if you are battling self doubt, anxiety, depression, low self esteem, fear, or even hopelessness. There are months of back posts you can search and find articles to help you through your day. Check back often to that site.

So what are you waiting for? There is nothing you can find that isn’t wonderful to read!! (Arrogant? Yes! More like begging though!) Join over 460 other people that have subscribed in less than a year.

The is Corruption, Sadness, Death, and Self Doubt in Iran

Before we discuss the post for today, I want to remind you that you can get a free eBook just by subscribing to a great free newsletter. You can do that by going over to the right side bar, and clicking on the icon that says, “Sign up for my free newsletter and get instant access to the free eBook, The Top 25 Ways to Survive in a Troubled World. It is very timely with all the pain, and suffering there is in our world today. It also shows ways for you and me to cope during this time.

By subscribing you are also put in a drawing for books. They are top selling books, like the current one that is available to win called, “Three Cups of Tea,” By David Relin. He even autographed the book. It has been # 1 on the top selling list for 150 weeks straight! It is about Greg Mortenson trying to have schools built in Afghanistan, and Pakistan. There were many trials, and disappointments in countries controlled by the Taliban, who do not want the schools built. This is a wonderful read that will give you hope in a world that is not so friendly.

The deadline to subscribe to win this particular book is July 13th. There will be a drawing that evening. Don’t wait. I find when I do that I forget about it and don’t do it at all.

Now for the post that is about as current as you can get. Much of the information was on CNN.com this morning:

There is Corruption, Sadness, Death, and Self Doubt, in Iran.

In the Book, The Shack, By William Paul Young, there is talk about “The Great Sadness.”

This term relates to the awful time that Max, the lead character, goes through when he fears his daughter has been murdered. In this story the timeless question is asked, “Where is God in a World so filled with unspeakable Pain?”

Max found the answer. (I suggest you read the book to find out what answers he found.)

How do we find the answer?

We can look at Iran and see many things that need answers. There is corruption, great sadness, death, self doubt, depression, and living Hell.

The people of Iran are desperately seeking answers. They are living in their own great sadness. They are rioting. They are defying the government. People are dying because of their strong will for change.

Why does God allow all this to happen? Can’t He come down to earth and wipe out the bad guys, and give the good guys peace? Yes, He can.

Does it do that? No. Why???

God allowed us to make choices. He gave Adam and Eve free choices. Their choices cost them dearly. They would now have to go through death to be with the Father.

We see examples of bad guys causing pain and anguish everywhere.

How about Hitler? He murdered millions of innocent people just because he didn’t like them. They weren’t an enemy that he needed to fear. They were outsiders in his mind, and he decided to try to exterminate them.

How about Stalin? He must be in the Guinness Book of records for killing the most people. His total was over 42 million. He killed because he didn’t like them, and because they were trying to dethrone him.

More recently we had Saddam Hussein. He was a dictator that loved to poison, shot, rape, and imprison anyone who looked at him wrong.

Now we have Iran with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, winning a corrupted election, and the people are fighting back. Many are dying. Neda Agha-Solton was one of the people who died and she was a peaceful protester.

Her name Neda means voice. She may have died, but her voice has been heard all over the world. Ahmadinejad, the leader of Iran claims that there was something very wrong with her killing, and there needs to be an investigation. Another leader claims that it was the CIA that killed her!

The Iran government has become desperate. They have arrested more than 230 students, professors, journalist, and reformists. This is a calculated push to eliminate any opposition to the government. Even the main opponent Mir Hossein Mousavi is under constant police surveillance.

Among the most prominent reformist detained was Ebranim Yazdi, 78, who was a key aide to the Islamic Republic’s founder, Ayatollah Khomeini, and served as the foreign minister after the 1979 revolution.

He was hospitalized when he was arrested. They came right into his hospital room took out the intra-venous tubes and took him to the notorious Evin Prison.

So why doesn’t God step in there and clear this mess up?

He is a loving God. He let us choose our destiny. He gave the people choices, before Noah built the ark. He gave the people of Sodom and Gomorrah choices before He destroyed them. He gave Pharaoh choices before his own son died.

This is and will be the pattern while there is still an earth to live on. We make our own choices. You make your own choices. Think about those choices. Do you know for sure that you are making the right ones? God loves you the way you are. He just doesn’t want you to stay that way.
