Writing is not a sport. It is hard work and can get to the point of writer’s block. How do you avoid writer’s block?
Here are some things I do when that pesky writer’s block attacks:
- Get away from the computer, or what ever device you use to write.
- Go on a walk. Don’t think about your writing for one second on the walk. Look around and enjoy what you see.
- Start another writing project that has no connection to what you are now working on. A fresh start often gets the brain working again.
- Have lunch with a friend, and again, don’t talk about writing. Just enjoy the meal, and catching up on how your friend is.
Writing block doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, take measures to avoid it as much as you can by coming up with alternative things to do.

It is hard, at best, to accept life when someone you love is ill, and may not make it. I am going through that right now. My mother is almost 96 and she is failing her health this last week. It is very hard to visit her and see her slowly fade. I sometimes wonder to myself why God would let her linger so long through this pain and hard trial.
Then I think of what she has meant to me. I think that even though I have to hand feed her, she did the same thing for me when I was little. I also think of that when I have to change her clothes because she has had a accident.
Our parents went through some hard times to get us where we are today. The least we can do is provide them with as much comfort as possible in their final hours on this earth.
Take this day to go and thank your parents for all they have done for you. There may come a time where it will be too late.
Remember:
You are not forsaken.
And above all…never, ever, give up!
