Doug Bolton, the founder of the blog, Signs of Hope, which is at www.dailysignsofhope.com, has written a new book, “Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.” It reaches out the many military and veterans who may be battling anxiety, fear, depression, addictions, rejections, and the many other usual suspects. There are 22 military connected suicides every day. That is almost one every hour. Doug wants to help stop those statistics.

Here are some more articles that pertain to the military:

VA Offers Oxygen Therapy for PTSD.

I am a board member for the Victory for Veterans Foundation. We have been sharing about this wonderful new way to help our veterans called Oxygen Therapy.  Go to www.victoryforveterans. org and check it out.

It is called HBOT. It is a procedure that increases the oxygen to the body by placing the patient in a pressure chamber.  Oxygen therapy encourages healing by directing more oxygen to specific areas of the body, such as the brain or muscles. It can even be used to treat carbon monoxide poisoning, burns, wounds, and skin grafts.

Oxygen Therapy shares new hope for our veterans.

Veterans ID card Program Delayed

The VA announced in December that due to an overwhelming demand for the new ID card, they would have to regroup. You can send them an email at vets.gov for updates on the progress of getting the program more ready. There is no timeline for when they will running again.

Vets Put Their lives on the Line, Now Their Lungs May on the Line

I have a personal story from this a very good friend who was in Afghanistan  had an honorable discharge, and even started working as a fireman.   He developed chest problems and had a hard time breathing. He went to a VA doctor and he said he had COPD and a very serious infection in both of his lungs.

He was told he needed two lung transplants. This is still ongoing.

The  soldiers are told help your country first. Worry about the risks and liabilities come later.

For many veterans, like my friend,  the risks and liabilities are now lung diseases such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and pulmonary  Fibrosis.

The latest generation involved in desert fighting are experiencing and even higher occurrence of lung disease.

  • I will be keeping you   updated on how my friend is doing so subscribe so you can get a report right to your inbox.

There are far too many veterans that were in harm’s way and they aren’t thinking too much about their future.

They are struggling with depression, anxiety, fear, PTSD, TBI, war wounds.

The sad statistic is that 22 of those veterans put themselves in harm’s way and are ended their lives every day!

These heroes deserve much better. They went into harm’s way to protect others. Now we need to protect them.

For those veterans that may be struggling, we feel your pain. We hope the best for you. Never give up!

There is a 24/7 number to call for help if you need it.

I want to announce a new giveaway starting the first of January. I will be giving away free copies of my first book, Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World.

An autographed copy will be given out to certain subscribers by selected different areas to pick and their email address. The first giveaway will go to the 10th subscriber, starting now.

This should be fun, and one person in each giveaway will walk away with a free book that reaches out to those who have lost hope.

+ I am sharing some updated news to let you know what is going on in the veteran community.

________________________________________________________________

One legally blind WWII veteran fought off assailants attempting to vandalize his American flag after destroying his “God Bless All Police” sign.

Howard Banks, a proud Texas veteran at 92 years old, reportedly heard noises outside his home and went to investigate after a string of vandalism previously resulted in the destruction of his American flag and Marine Corps colors.

Legally blind, Banks says he could not fully make out what the vandals were doing, but he quickly realized they could see him. Moments after he went outside, the vandals knocked him down.

“I turned and looked in the other direction, and about then – ‘wham!’ They knocked me down.”

Bank, a WWII veteran of the Pacific front survived Iwo Jima, is not deterred by the injuries, defending the flag is “the one thing I can cling to. Yet at my capacity, there’s not much I can do. But I can honor our flag.”

There seems to be an increase in this happening. A sad day in our country when we disgrace humanity by terrorizing these heroes.
