What an Easter weekend I had. I started out being optimistic about being “good,” with my eating and then completely failed on Saturday, the day before Easter.

We had a wonderful setting for the gathering. We were on the Oregon Coast, and it was a perfect day. There were no clouds; a little windy, but warm.

Then the family started coming. One had my favorite bean casserole. Another had ham that was  perfect. Then there was the spaghetti, made just right. Of course the scalloped potatoes.

Before we ate the main course, there were the appetizers. There was shrimp with some wonderful cocktail sauce. The deviled eggs were beyond description, and the homemade dip for the relish dish, was outstanding.

After I pigged out on all of that there were the desserts! Apple pie; perfect brownies; cupcakes, and chocolate pudding pie.

So, my dream of being good lasted only as long as I didn’t see the food. Once I saw it I fell apart quickly.

That happens to all of us in our daily lives. We “promise” to not sin, but when the temptation comes we often fall apart. We want the main dish of life , and the dessert as well.

Temptation for food, or our own desires in our lives are hard, at best, to conquer. That is when we need to turn to God. We need to depend on Him. If we think we can go life without God, Dr. Phil would ask, “How is that working for you?”

Always keep God on your side. When He is on you side, who can be against you?

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

I haven’t posted for almost two months. I have had adversity in its highest form, and it has slowed me down.

I lost my mother on February 1st. She was 95 years old, but there is still a time of grieving when you lose a loved one. I also had some health issues with my heart. I have A-Fib, and a damaged heart from a previous heart attack.

I also lost a dear friend within hours of my mother’s death.

I am back now, and still strong with the Lord.  All this adversity seemed to make me even stronger. It made me think of how short a life time we have on this earth, and that we need be thankful for every day we have.

As I mentioned up in the lead in area my book, “Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World, has been out in eBook form for about a year. However, we just lowered the price from $4.99 to $2.99. That is quite a savings. Please check it out by clicking on the Amazon icon on the right. Think of Easter coming and how it could help many through the storms of life.

When the darkness comes from life’s heavy burdens what do you do? Some go into deep depression. Others stay strong and always see the bright side of everything.

I have been in deep depression, but now I know everything is for the good of those who believe.

That verse in the bible is hard for some who wonder, “If that is true, what good did I receive from my loved one’s death?

Well, a little further in that same verse, it says for those who believe. That means belief in God.

When we believe, we also learn to trust God. We learn from our storms and trials. Sometimes we need to be put to the fire of life, to fine tune us like a sword has to be put to the fire to sharpen and shape to its maximum  potential.

I am now looking at everything on the bright side. I have learned that God has a plan. I have learned that He loves me, and will help calm the storms in my life.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.
