Taiwan tracks pair of Russian warships off island’s eastern coast

Taiwan scrambled aircraft and dispatched ships late Tuesday to monitor the passage of two Russian warships off its eastern coast, according to the island’s Ministry of National Defense.

US military should speed up efforts to modernize its forces, top American general says

Army Gen. Mark Milley, who will retire as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in three months, said Friday that the U.S. military should pick up the pace on modernizing its forces so it will be able to withstand the changing conditions of future battles.

Why is it that we have so many civilians thinking the military gets too much funding? Do they realize what would happen if the military didn’t have funds to make new weapons, or pay its military? It would be very bad. I would guess we would lose a war if this happened.

I have found out that I may not need to have a hip replacement. I went to a Pain maintenance clinic and they had me do an experiment. They had me stop the pain pills and only use Tylenol. I haven’t had any pain in my hip since doing that.

I was even in preop. I am wondering if the surgeon was just seeking more money.

Update on this old warrior’s health:

I have had a final diagnosis. I will need hip replacement surgery. The pain is just too much. They will be giving me a steroid shot. The problem is that here are many people also wanting the shot. My actual date to get my shot is May 27th.

I have pain relievers, and they are helping.

I had a very hard hair day yesterday. The pain level was at 10 and meds weren’t doing it for me. It has been a battle to even see a doctor. My primary doctor referred me to a orthopedic clinic. He even called them to try to get it going sooner, and no one answered the phone. He had to leave a message.

This delay is uncalled for. I feel that maybe the VA could even have done better.

I have started planning for a huge book signing event in my hometown. It will be at the convention center. I am reaching out to find some sponsors to pay for the room. The room holds 160 people. I will have guest speakers, and have several WWII veterans there.

I hope to have a winery come to sell their wine and give away free drinks. I also hope the winery will donate some bottles to give away at the tables.
