F-16s won’t be a ‘game-changer’ for Ukraine in its war with Russia, Air Force secretary says

Ukraine will get a boost on the battlefield against invading Russian forces once its pilots train and begin to fly F-16 fighter jets, but Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall said Monday that the aircraft won’t make a dramatic change in the war.

Do you have to stay at your post if you are injured? I was told yes, while deployed to South Korea. I was working on hill 468 one day and the equipment stopped running. I went out to check the generator and it was out of gas. The person before me was supposed to fill it.

I got some gas containers and climbed up on the generator. I was pouring gas into the generator when I slipped. All I could grab to break my fall was the manifold. It was super hot and it burned my left hand tremendously. I went back inside the hut and tried to bandage the wound. I had some ointment and spread it on the hand that was severely burnt. I wrapped it up with some gauze.

It was extremally painful. What should I do? I could have called down to the headquarters and sought help. However, I didn’t want to mess up the working schedule. I lived in pain and finished my shift.

Was I a hero? Of course not, but I was gratified that I didn’t make things worse.

I saw the medics when I got down to the camp, and they put much better dressings on my hand. I only lost a couple of days of work.

While in basic training at Ft. Ord, California, I hade some interesting moments. We had a drill sergeant that was known as a bad ass. He drilled us extra every day.

We weren’t happy about it. I can’t tell how many times I had to go to KP duty.

But, as the 8 weeks went by I realized that my drill sergeant was just trying to make sure we were good soldiers, and I liked him for it.

I decided he was the boss, and did every command he gave me. I never hesitated. Towards the end of my time there I was nominated by the drill sergeant for soldier of the month. I had to ask him why he did it. He said, “You have been the most obedient soldier I have had this year and you deserve it.”

He later chose me to be in the honor marching band. What a great feeling when I was told that. The other soldiers really looked up to me.

The were some who weren’t good soldiers that kept getting into trouble. Most of them were draftees. One even tried to take on our drill sergeant. He didn’t do well. He was knocked unconscious.

Had some funny time while running out for formation. I had a buddy that had signed up with me that had a bad hair day. It was the weekend, and no one expected to be called for formation. My buddy certainly didn’t. He had every bit of his uniform clothing in the wash. He had to run out dripping wet. The sergeant made him come to the front of the formation, and we had to laugh in cadence. I felt badly for my buddy, but it was funny.

US Military Investigating Leak of Emails From Pentagon Server

It is not uncommon for large organizations to inadvertently expose internal data to the internet, but the fact that this is a Department of Defense email server will give U.S. officials cause for concern. It is unclear if any malicious outsider accessed the exposed SOCOM data.

I remember my time in Korea, and one of the times I was injured while doing my job. I was a member of the Army Security Agency, and my job was to monitor airway for breaches of security. I was attached to the 321’s ASA company.

One night up on hill 468, things went bad. The lights went out, and I figured that the generator was out of gas.

I went out to check and I was right. So I climbed up on the huge generator and started pouring in the gas. About half way through i slipped and was falling off of the generator. I grabbed what ever I could the break my fall. Unfortunately it was the hot manifold.

I severely burnt my hand. I still had three hours on my shift. What should I do?

I was told by my sergeant that no matter what you need to stay at your post. I went back inside and put ointment on my hand and continued working with one hand.

When my shift was over I went to the medics and they doctored me up.

Have you had an incident like this? Let me know about it.
