Doug Bolton, the founder of the blog, Signs of Hope, which is at www.dailysignsofhope.com, has written a new book, “Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.” It will be reaching out the many military and veterans who may be battling anxiety, fear, depression, addictions, rejections, and the many other usual suspects. There are 22 military connected suicides ever day. That is almost one every hour. Doug wants to help stop those statistics. Doug sent off his mini proposal to an agent who is very interested in his concept. We will update you when we hear more.

Ok…Here is the last installment of the chapters from the new book, “Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.”

After I share these chapters there will be future  postings where there will be more in depth look at some of those same chapters. So be sure to subscribe so you can see some of the actually wording from some of the chapters.

+ Be sure to read at the end of this posting about a new section that will added to the book.

So here is the last of the chapter titles and some news of a new section for the book, “Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the trenches of life:”

If Only I would Have..

We all have our, “If only I would haves… We look back and wonder what would have happened if you would have done something different when we face adversity. Something traumatic happened in my childhood that could have been totally different if I would have acted differently.

What Are You Saving Your Talents For?

We often set aside our abilities, our dreams, or our talents for reasons unknown. We need to take the first giant step and succeed.

Move Out of Your Home Called Depression.

Too many of us live at the corner of despair, and hopelessness. We need to know that we do not need to let depression overcome us. There are so many things we can do to cause a bright future in our lives.

Let’s Start a Ripple Effect

This final chapter shares how we should be the example to help others around us. It can the ripple effect like you see when you throw a pebble into a lake. The ripples keep going out farther and farther. Our influence can do the same thing.

+ This is the very first announcement of a new feature for the book, “Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.”

There will an new added ending to the book. I have done some interviewing of actual soldiers of different branches of the military. There are some gut wrenching stories of facing death, losing of buddies, and near death experience. I have already interviewed two WWII veterans with near death experiences; one Vietnam veteran who saw his buddy die. Another Vietnam veteran who was medic that had several stories of scared young men wounded, and dying.

I have one more WWII nurse lined up, plus some more Vietnam , and Gulf war veterans to interview. I may be able to slip in a Korean veteran as well. This will one of the highlights of the book that will bring tears to your eyes, and have you proud of our veterans who put themselves in harms way.

To all you veterans:

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

I told you yesterday I would be sharing the titles of  my chapters, from the book, “Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.”  (This is called a “hook,” in the writer business.)

Well, here are a few more chapter titles:

  • Sometimes the Answers Are Available for You

I had a very stressful time trying to pass bed inspection in basic training until I learn a secret.

  • Missing the Right Stop

On our way to Ft. Devens, Massachusetts we missed the right stop and went screaming by it.

  • I was Almost Blown Away

No not by a grenade, but by a hurricane. We were stuck in a parade field.

  • It’s Tough Being the New Kid on the Block

Sometimes you have to take the first step to be accepted by others.

  • Stop Over in Okinawa, Japan

There was wall to wall bars, and ladies calling to me as I walked the street.

If the last chapter synopsis doesn’t get your curiosity up there is something wrong with you. Each of these chapters have some pretty amazing happenings in them, and are true. The life of a soldier isn’t all spent in a trench.

I found that out when I  interviewed several veterans who had been there and done that. I interviewed some WWII veterans, Vietnam veterans, Korean veterans, and some current Iraq, and Afghanistan veterans. Their stories will melt your heart, and let you know that we should be proud of all veterans no matter where or when they served.

I want to thank all the veterans that have and are serving and remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

+ Here is the latest update on the progress of the book, “Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.”

May 7th, 2015

When I first reported to you there were 22 chapters done for the book. As of this morning there are now 49. I can see that there may be another 10 or so more chapters because I keep getting ideas from people on Facebook, and through emails on what I should cover, and the list keeps coming in.

I just finished a chapter on domestic violence in the military, which is a definite problem that keeps raising its ugly head. This chapter will help in that it has suggestions for help, and defines the problems domestic violence can have on a marriage.

I am working hard on a new chapter discussing PTSD. ( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) It is an extremely hard chapter to write. I am doing lots of research to put this chapter together. I want it to be as accurate and helpful as possible.

Keep checking in here to see further progress. Better yet, subscribe so that you will get the updates every time I post. Just click on the icon right after the title to do that.

I have invited back Dennis Booth to talk to us more about the tragedy that happened 100 years ago this month in his country of Australia. His short post is gut wrenching and makes us not forget any past battles or accomplishments that our own military’s have done. Thank you again Dennis.

Dennis Booth

I think today of the towns, villages and hamlets almost wiped out of young and old men in WW1……Lest We Forget.
I think of the POW’s who passed away in captivity often in horrendous circumstances and those who returned with haunting and often perpetual nightmares….Lest We Forget.

I think of the women, who back home did their own military service in the Land Armies or in munitions factories like my mother did…Lest We Forget.

I think of the widows and mothers who received a telegram saying their husband or son had been killed in action……Lest We Forget.

I apologise on behalf of those who wont, for the way they treated returning troops from Vietnam….Lest We Forget.

I think of those lying in graves throughout the world who are Australian Services personnel…some with names, some unknown….We Will Never Forget.

And I think today that this country more than ever may be in some part of convict stock but it is very definitely of sacrificial stock and biased or not there is no country like ours nor might I say our neighbours New Zealand…….Lest We Forget.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!
