Thoughts just for you….

James 1: 2 says, ” Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds.”

How can we accept that? We are suppose to get all excited with joy when a trial comes our way? Tough assignment at best.

I can truthfully say that I have had my share of trials in my life. I am a heart patient that has had to have quadruple by-pass surgery; had to have a pace maker implanted, and I have had to go through two cardio versions. (Shock treatment of the heart.)

It would be very easy for me to complain, cry, be bitter, etc. There were some close calls with at least two heart attacks, but I AM over- joyed that all this has happened to me.

Because of all the trials I have gone through, I have been able to witness to many others who have gone through the same things I have. I can share with them how God’s love for me, has helped me make it through the muck and mire of life. I share that I wouldn’t haven’t made it if I didn’t think He was by my side the whole way.

Trials help mold us. Sure, we have to face adversity when they come, but when you are able to persevere and move on, you have a positive memory of defeating the adversity.

I know it is hard when trials comes, but rely on God to see you through and use them to grow, and witness to others.

Remember:

You are not alone.

You are not forsaken.

You are not unloved.

Above all….never, ever, give up!

Thoughts just for you….

Have you ever said something in anger and wished you could have it back? I know I have. The problem is that once the words are out of your mouth they can’t be taken back. They leave a lasting scar even if you apologize later.

James 3: 8 says, “…no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.”

Now that sounds a little harsh, but think about it. The tongue can’t be controled some times, becaseu we speack out of anger, and once anger sets in, we have the famous, “run-a-mouth,” disease.

Satan uses the tongue to divide people. We often allow the tongue to:

  • Gossip
  • Put people down
  • Brag
  • Manipulate others
  • Do false teachings
  • Exaggerate
  • Complain
  • Do lying

The uncontroled tongue can do terrible damage. Idle and hateful words are damaging because they spread destruction quickly. Once they are spoken, the damage last forever.

How can we battle this? The Holy Spirit, as we allow Him, will give us increasing power to monitor and control what we say, so that when we are offended, the Spirit will remind us of God’s love. Then we won’t reacte in a hateful manner. The Spirit will heal our wounds for us.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

Above all…never, ever, give up!

Thoughts just for you…

The Christian life is a process of becoming more and more like Christ. (Romans 8:29)

We need to purify ourselves. What does purify mean? It means to keep morally straight, free from the corruption of sin. God also purifies us, but there is action we must take to remain morally fit. (I Timothy 5:12) (James 4:8) (Ipeter 1:22.)

We need to also know the difference in commiting a sin and continuing to sin. Even the most faithful sometimes commit sins, but they don’t cherish a particular sins and choose to commit it. A believer who commits a sin repents, confesses and finds forgiveness. A person who continues to sin, is not sorry for what they are doing. Thus this person never confesses and never receives forgiveness. Such a person is in opposition to God no matter what religious claims they make.

Three steps are necessary to find victory over sin:

  1. Seek the power of the Holy Spirit and God’s word.
  2. Stay away from tempting situations.
  3. Seek the help of the body of Christ. Be open to their willingness to hold you accountable and pray for you.

So, live your life in a way that you can feel peace with your heavenly Father. Obey His ways, and believe that He sent His only Son down to this earth to die for you and me.

Remember:

You are not alone.

You are not forsaken.

You are not unloved.

Above all… never, ever, give up!
