Fear and Terroe Are the Latest Words in Iran

A witness in Iran said, “It is beyond fear in Iran. It is more like terror!” Women a fleeing Iran and coming to the United States. Neda was shot to death and she was an innocent bystander. Her name means “voice.” Her voice is now heard around the world! She lives on in the minds of many people.

The Mid-East has always been a hot spot in the world. Iran has been right in the center of it. They are defiant, and continue to move forward in make nuclear bombs. They will not negotiate.

It is interesting that they have a big increase in inflation; 15.4% unemployed, and depend on outside sources for much of their gas. This doesn’t sound like a country that is thriving in the middle of the oil gold mine area.

A sign that the people are getting stronger is that many of the clergy are join the Iran people in protesting. So is many of the militia. If this continues Ahmadinejad may want to take a step back and start listening to his people, or he will be yesterday’s news.

What started out as being a power struggle between Ahmadinejad and Moussavi, is now a power struggle between Ahmadinejad, and the people of Iran.

What does all this mean? What is the future for Iran? Whose history does this really belong to? Well, let’s break down the word history: His Story! (God’s) It is true. God is letting the world know about this for a reason. It is His story about depending on Him for protection. It is His story telling us that dictatorship didn’t work when Pharaoh wouldn’t let the Israelites go, and it won’t work now.

Saddam Hussein found that out in Iraq, and Hitler found that out in Germany.

God allows people to make their own decisions. He certainly doesn’t like all of our decisions, and we pay one way or another for our bad decisions.

Stay tuned and see what God has in mind in Iran.

I would like to switch countries for another adventure. There are other countries where there is fear and terror. Afghanistan and Pakistan are battling fear and terror everyday. The Taliban are causing havoc in both countries.

There is a book that is a must read. It is called, Three Cups of Tea, by David Relin writing for Greg Mortenson.

This is a fascinating story of one man’s quest to provide school for the children of Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

Mortenson, visited these countries as a mountain climber, and saw the horrible conditions that were in the villages. The Taliban had taken control and was only allowing schools for boy and not the girls, and they were taught how to become soldiers that would kill anyone that fought against them.

This true story is about Greg Mortenson’ s trials and tribulations in trying to get new schools built for the young girls of these countries. He was convinced that education was the best course to fight off the brain washing of the Taliban.

He had a near death experience when he wandered for days looking for the right path to get him down off K2 in Pakistan, one of the highest mountains in the world.

He drifted into an impoverished village in the Karakoram mountains. They took care of him until he was well enough to go the rest of the way. He was moved by their kindness and he promised to return and build a school there.

The struggles he faced trying to get the right materials for the local merchants; the hardships that happened when he got the goods, and realized that he need to build a bridge to get to the villages are written by David Relin a journalist who befriended Mortenson.

Read the story of how he accomplished miracles in Afghanistan and Pakistan right in the middle of the Taliban’s stronghold.

Why do people feel like the sky is falling in our world today? Why are they so down and depressed?

As a child, I didn’t have an extra dime to share each month. We didn’t have TV, nintendo, cell phones, or computers. We had FRIENDS! We went outside and played all day. We would leave in the morning, and not come home until the street lights came on and no one worried.

We had family gatherings where we we actually sat and talked. We all sat at the dinner table and shared our day. We read books, LOTS of books. We paid a dime for comic books, and traded them with our friends.

I could go on forever sharing how we survived in the “good ole days.’

I am not saying that people don’t appreciate what they have and don’t have. I think the problem is that they are not creative enough to help themselves be happy. If they can’t have that nintendo game anymore, the world is coming to an end. If they can’t afford to go to a movie right now they feel defeated. They evented TV to cover that!!

I have a saying that I use from time to time, “Life is tough and then you die.” Pretty harsh, but life doesn’t have to be tough if you will not let it be tough.

“When the going gets tough, the tough get going!”

Take everything one breath at a time. Look around you and find things that will make you happy. Notice that some of them do not cost you a penny. Go fishing; play tennis; read a book; go to the library. Now YOU make your OWN list of things that do not cost anything that you haven’t done in years that was enjoyable and fun. Then……Just do it!!!

Thoughts on life too good to pass up

I have had a good response from you on the format I used in the last post. You seem to like having a synopsis of chapters from my book, Close Encounters of the heavenly Kind: Life Beyond Bumper Stickers. So I will give you more in this post. All of the following descriptions are from chapters in the book.

  • I have a chapter from an actual dream I had. It is called, “Worry is the Dark Room, Where Negatives Develop.” It talks about defeating anxiety, gossip, fear, being ashamed, and even death.
  • The divorce rate is getting out of control. I show a survey as to why this is happening, and how to avoid it.
  • We can be in bad physical shape, but we can also be in bad spiritual shape. We need to exercise!
  • Your spouse can be your greatest ally when you need someone.
  • Jonah thought he could live without God, so did David. How about you?
  • God didn’t promise us a rose garden, but he will help us through the storms in our lives.
  • We need to remember that God will never let us face something that we can not handle. He will help us through the trials.
  • There are two ways to pray. You can pray and wait for God’s answer, or you can move forward and ask God to help you along the way.
  • We have many fast new modern ways to communicate on this earth, but they don’t even compare to the speed that we can get a message to God.
  • We need to slow down, be silent, and listen to God. We are spending too much time in the fast lane.
  • People who pray, or are prayed for while they are ill, have a better chance of recovery than those who don’t.  A survey proves it.
  • Use the talents God has given you!
  • God answers calls 24/7. You are not charged for long distance calls. It is tool free, and it doesn’t take a toll on your life.
  • What do you do when everything seems lost? How do you handle all the despair people have to go through?

You can see many of these chapters through excerpts I post on my online newsletter. To get the newsletter, just go over to the right side bar, and click on “Sign up for my free newsletter.” Then put in your email address, and you will start receiving the Abiding Grace Press, about every two weeks.

It also has three other pages in it.

  • A sports page that is full of sports news. Mostly from Oregon State University, but it could be about any sports in the world.
  • A travel page that is fun to post. The last one had a real story from one of the passengers of the plane that crashed into the Hudson River. He gives a moment by moment description of the plane as it is crashing, and what happened after it crashed. It is an inspiring story.
  • A resource page that has newspaper articles from all over the world that discusses such afflictions like: depression, panic attacks, Bi-Polar disease, and many others. This is a very popular page.

Thank you for your responses. It helps me to put out the best posts possible.

BTW.. There will be some big promotions coming out soon. One is an autographed book by William P. Young, who wrote The Shack. This book has been near the top of the best sellers lists for months. You have a chance to get it, but only if you are subscribed to the newsletter.

God bless….

Doug
