It has been a while since I last posted. I had surgery on my neck to take out a bone spur, and the recovery is slow. Not only do I have problems with pain, I also can’t swallow solid food. I have to have soups, milkshakes, and juices. I love the milkshakes, but I getting very tired of soups.

I thought I would use part of this post to catch you up on where my writing is going, and what is coming up.

  • I have a literary agent interested in my work who is from Colorado-USA. If I connect with him a new world will open up. Tom Brady from the Patriots has an agent and has done pretty well with that. 🙂
  • My first book, “Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World,” received a national award from the Reader’s Favorite Awards. I am very proud of that, and hope to continue writing the type of books people will like.
  • I have been working on my second book, which I am writing with Dennis Booth from New South Wales, Australia. It will be called, “Signs of Hope: For the Weak Days.” (Working title) It is a devotional, and has excerpts from my blog: www.dailysignsofhope.com. The blog has over 47,000 followers. Check it out yourself and see why. CLUE… the title gives away why so many people come there.

Now as I always do, no matter what the subject is above,  will share some thoughts that have helped me cope in this not so friendly world.

Are you walking on a treadmill and getting no where? Do you seem to go one step forward and two steps backwards?  Have you faced more than your share of trials and storms?

All of us have felt like there is a huge magnate on our shoulders dragging us down. We all have faced severe storms.

Yes, I personally have found that this is very hard to face. I am overwhelmed just like anyone else is.

The difference for me is that I know that I have a loving heavenly father who is watching over me. I know that He cares. He made us in His own image, and if He has done that, He will do what he can to help us through those storms and trials we face.

Yes, God does allow the storms, but He is there to help calm them.

Never feel alone. Never feel like God is far away some days. He is always near and will listen to your cries for help.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

It has been a while since I last posted. I have had some health issues, and have been spending the bulk of my time on my blog at www.dailysignsofhope.com, that has over 44,000 followers. I plan to spend much more time here now, because I am free to talk about my books, and other subjects I think you will enjoy.

The book I mentioned above, “Signs of Hope: For the Weak Days,” (Working title) reaches out to those who are battling anxiety, depression, self-doubt, fear, hopelessness, addictions, and the many other usual suspects. My co-author Dennis Booth, and I have been there and done that. We have been through the same storms that you have been through. We can relate, and share our thoughts on how to cope in this not so friendly world.

Do You go Through Life Wondering Why Me?

One of the many things I have faced are many illnesses. I am sure some of you have been there as well. I have had seven surgeries; some of them serious. I have another one coming up on October 7th for a bone spur in my neck.

It is hard, at best to keep going sometimes, when all this mounts up on us. We wonder if God cares. We question, “WHY ME!”

I can’t say I have the perfect answers. I can just share with you how I am able to cope.

When I first started having the many different ailments, including quadruple by-pass surgery on my heart, I was depressed. I was full of anger. I didn’t understand why such a loving God would allow so much pain.

Then as I made it through each storm I started gaining mental strength and stopped having the pity parties that no one wanted to come to.

I finally woke up and realized that God was using me to glorify His name through my afflictions. Each time I had another ailment, I was able to help others who were going through the same thing. They found comfort knowing that there was some one there who had been there and done that.

So I smile when something new comes up. I know that God has a new adventure for me to go on and use it to comfort others. Does this sound like a sadistic view on life? Maybe to some, but I am humbled that God would directly use me to help others through my own problems.

Think on this:

  • God loves you
  • Here considers you His child.
  • He created you in His own image. If He would go that far don’t you think he would want the best for you, even if it means being an example.
  • With God on your side, who can be against you?

I have a podcast here that I did with John Kremer, the marketing guru. He invited me to share unusual places to sell books. Take a listen and hit those streets running: goo.gl/WGTF7

This is a good time of the year to go to specialty shops and plug your book. I have sold my books in wineries gift shops, beauty salons, novelty shops, etc. It just takes a few minutes to go into any shop and speak with the owner. They can either say, yes or no. Offer them a 40% discount, and put the books on consignment. They have nothing to lose and you still make 60%. I have sold as many as 25 books in a store doing this.

They say this is the time of year where depression starts winning the battle with some of us. December is one of the highest months for suicides. There are many reasons for this:

  • A person is out of money and can’t buy a presents for their family.
  • A man has just lost his wife and it is his first holiday alone.
  • Everyone seems to be joyful and happy around you and you can’t see too much to be happy about.

Depression is not something to take lightly. I know I have been there. I was so depressed in 2001 that is was sitting in my Ford Explorer ready to end my life.

God stopped me that day and has been carrying me ever since. I talk about this in my book, “Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World.” I talk right away about my near death experience and then show the readers how they can overcome depression, self-doubt, anxiety, fear, hopelessness, and the many other usual suspects.

If you are one of those people struggling, or know of someone who is, this book could be a life saving book. I have received many phone call, letter, emails, etc., from people who say this book turned their life around, or helped someone they know.

Don’t let the darkness overcome you, or your loved ones. Reach out to others to help them, and help yourself as well. God is always there for you.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!
