I am going to be on a rant at the first of this post. I heard the speeches for Memorial Day, from both our president and Vice president. They were both very poor. Especially the vice president’s words.

She never said anything about the brave warriors who lost their lives for our country. She said, “Have a great weekend.”

This forgetting of our fellow veterans is not acceptable. The current leadership of this country are turning their backs on the military.

Military news…

Navy SEAL officer-turned-congressman Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) may have played himself last week, when he created a whistleblower website for complainants to report evidence of “woke ideology” in the U.S. military. But instead, Crenshaw was inundated with parody complaints and movie plots, like the famous ending monologue from Blade Runner.

If you’re going to accuse a sitting President of election fraud, maybe don’t do it on live TV while wearing your Army uniform. That’s what 1st. Lt. Alex Stovall, a 26-year-old reserve officer, found out now that his branch is looking into a TV interview he conducted with the right-wing news organization One America News Network, who is running to represent Arizona in Congress, appears to have violated several other Army rules along the way.

What do the words ‘behoove,’ ‘chow,’ ‘expedite,’ ‘daggon,’ and ‘irregardless’ have in common? They are all used way too frequently by career enlisted troops and officers, to the agony of many a junior enlisted service member.

Thousands of Afghans who helped Americans for the past 20 years face torture and death as soon as U.S. troops leave Afghanistan. What’s worse is that no one at the Pentagon or State Department seems to care enough about them to begin a massive evacuation while there’s still time. Even Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, acknowledged on Wednesday that “a significant amount of Afghans” that supported the U.S. could be in danger very soon as the U.S. prepares to withdraw by Sept. 11.

What do the words ‘behoove,’ ‘chow,’ ‘expedite,’ ‘daggon,’ and ‘irregardless’ have in common? They are all used way too frequently by career enlisted troops and officers, to the agony of many a junior enlisted service member, writes James Clark in this very funny story. A few weeks ago, James asked you readers for their nominations for words that are overused ad nauseam in the military, and I’ll be daggon’d if you didn’t deliver.

Don’t miss James’ complete list of the cursed words here. I’m sure you get a promotion straight to four-star general if you can string them all together into one incoherent sentence.Thousands of Afghans who helped Americans for the past 20 years face torture and death as soon as U.S. troops leave Afghanistan, writes Jeff Schogol in this troubling article. 11.

Make sure you read Jeff’s excellent piece to understand why U.S. officials are dropping the ball on this, and what they could do to get people out faster. If you were too busy counting the minutes to the weekend last Friday to pay attention to the proposed defense budget, we don’t blame you. The $715 billion request has some good and some bad news. Good news: troops and civilian employees would get a 2.7% raise in their basic pay in fiscal year 2022. Bad news: the Air Force would retire 42 A-10s to pay for newer aircraft, should the proposal be accepted by Congress.

Military news

“I made a quick decision” is the understatement of the year, but it’s how Army Sgt. 1st Class Jedadia Powell made his move to rush inside a burning house to save two women and a dog back in 2017. He made sure nobody else was in the house, and then he went right back to work after first responders arrived on the scene. Now, more than three years after the event, the Oregon National Guardsman received the Soldier’s Medal for his efforts.

When I got back to the states from Korea, I was sent to Ft. Bragg. I did pretty much the same work as I did in Korea.

One time our unit was sent on Bivwak to Virginia. We had all our equipment set up, and settled in.

Me and two other buddies went on a walk to see the area. We came across an elderly lady who greeted us. Actually she was being persistent in having us come in and have coffee with her. We soon realized she wanted to have sex with us and we moved on.

Further on the walk we saw three guys sitting together on a hillside. They invited us up. We quickly realized that they were moonshiners. They had the equipment to make booze near them. We sat down and heard some great stories about the moonshine business.

They offered to have us try their mix. We politely agreed. My first sip almost blew my head off! I very slowly finished my drink that was in a mason jar.

One of my buddies really liked it and asked for more. The guys were thrilled he liked it and gave him another drink. My buddy had two more after that.

Then he screamed, “I am blind!!” The three men laughed and said “You drank too fast. You will be fine in a few hours.”

We guided our buddy back to our camp and got him laid down.

On that same trip I was riding with a buddy up in the mountains in the area. He was driving.

There were no safety belts back then.

As we came around a curve we saw a boulder right in our way. The driver swerved to miss the boulder, but the force threw me out of the jeep right on top of the boulder, back first.

I hit the boulder with a tremendous force since we were going about thirty miles an hour. I blacked out as soon as I hit the boulder. The forced also caused me to have a whiplash.

I woke up in a medical tent.

I started screaming in pain. My lower back was one solid brush, and my neck was really painful.

The medic rushed over and gave me some morphine. That really helped.

I have had to have three neck and back surgeries since that day.

These two stories are in my upcoming book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the trenches of Life.

Be sure to keep checking back in to see further excerpts and updates as to how the book is coming along.

Some up to date news for you.

President Biden has decided to pull the troops out of Afghanistan on September 11th, 2021. That would be the 20th anniversary of the Twin Towers attack.

Now the people are in an uproar. They wanted the troops brought home, but now they fear the Taliban will take over the country quickly.

HELLO!

I am in a spot in my life where I am not sure if we should send troops to every country that is having problems.

Biden is in a lose, lose situation, and I feel for him on this situation.

The Air Force just let in a white supremacist that a Google search could have caught, I wrote in an article on Tuesday. Airman 1st Class Shawn Michael McCaffrey has a long history with white supremacist groups, and he even ran a podcast where he and his racist, homophobic pals pilloried Jews, people of color, Muslims and many other groups, including the military. The Air Force is now investigating the case.

OOOOPS!!!

“I want to get back to doing normal things” was the main reason Army Staff Sgt. Anthony Johnson flipped from COVID-19 vaccine skeptic to vaccine recipient, writes Army reporter Haley Britzky. Like many other soldiers, seeing his commander take the shot helped Johnson change his mind. Learning more statistics about the vaccine, wanting to protect their loved ones and believing the Army wouldn’t provide a harmful vaccine to its troops also helped, Haley found out after chatting with soldiers.

The cop who pointed a firearm at an unarmed, uniformed Army officer named 2nd Lt. Caron Nazario at a traffic stop in December has been fired from the Windsor, Va. police department, Haley Britzky reports. Officer Joe Gutierrez was out of line with Windsor PD policy, the town said in a press release. Meanwhile, the Army’s top enlisted soldier praised Nazario for his calm response to the encounter.
