The tongue is the hardest part of our body to control. Quite often we say things that we regret later. Once it is out of the mouth, it has done its destruction, and can’t be taken back.

What we say and don’t say are equally important. Proper speech is not only saying the right things at the right time, but it is also controlling your desire to says things you shouldnn’t .

Some example of a tongue out of control are:

  • Gossiping
  • Putting others down
  • Bragging
  • Manipulating
  • False teaching
  • Exaggerating
  • Complaining
  • Lying

Before we speak we need to ask ourselves… Is what I am about to say, truthful? Is it necessary? Is it Kind?

The uncontrolled tongue can do great damage. Satan uses the tongue to divide people. Idle and hateful words are damaging, because they spread destruction quickly.

A few words said in anger can destroy a relationship that took years to build.

How can we control our tongue?

The Holy Spirit will give us increasing power to monitor and control what we say, so that when we are offended, the Spirit will remind us of God’s love , and we then don’t react in a hateful way. When we are criticized the Spirit will heal the hurt and we don’t lash out.

I realize this is not an easy task. I have a short fuse at times, and really have to “bite my tongue,” t keep me from saying something I will regret later. I am able to do it with God’s help.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

Above all…never, ever, give up!

There are many way to walk the path of this life. We can seek riches, and strive to find ways to make money, not matter the obstacles are, or we can share our wealth with the less fortunate.

James from the Bible teaches to not show favoritism to the wealthy:

  • It’s inconsistent with Christ’s teachings.
  • It results from evil thoughts.
  • It insults people made in God’s image.
  • It’s a by-product of selfish motives.
  • It shows a lack of mercy to those less fortunate.
  • It’s hypocritical.
  • It’s a sin.

We often treat well dressed, impressive-looking people better then someone who looks shabby. We do this because we could rather identify with successful people than with apparent failures.

Why is it wrong to judge a person by his or her economic status?

Wealth may indicate intelligence, wise decisions, and  hard work. On the other hand, it may mean only that a person had the good fortune of being born into a wealthy family. It could even be the sign of greed, dishonesty, and selfishness.

Why do some people go this route of ignoring the poor?

  1. Poverty makes us feel uncomfortable. We don’t want to face our responsibilities to those who have less than we do.
  2. We want to be wealthy too, and we hope to sue the rich person as a means to that end.
  3. We want the rich person to join our church  and help support it financially.

All of these motives are selfish.

God doesn’t promise us  earthly rewards or riches; in fact Christ call us to be ready to suffer for Him and give up everything in order to hold on to eternal life. besides, we will have untold riches in eternity if we are faithful in our present life.

God loves the poor. That doesn’t  mean the the rich will automatically go to hell and the poor to heaven. Poor people are more aware  of their powerlessness. This helps them to be more aware of their need to seek salvation as the means to find their wealth in heaven.

We need to love one another, no matter what the wealth level is for each person.

Remember:

You are not alone.

You are not forsaken.

You are not unloved.

Above all… never,  ever,  give up!

Thoughts just for you….

James 1: 2 says, ” Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds.”

How can we accept that? We are suppose to get all excited with joy when a trial comes our way? Tough assignment at best.

I can truthfully say that I have had my share of trials in my life. I am a heart patient that has had to have quadruple by-pass surgery; had to have a pace maker implanted, and I have had to go through two cardio versions. (Shock treatment of the heart.)

It would be very easy for me to complain, cry, be bitter, etc. There were some close calls with at least two heart attacks, but I AM over- joyed that all this has happened to me.

Because of all the trials I have gone through, I have been able to witness to many others who have gone through the same things I have. I can share with them how God’s love for me, has helped me make it through the muck and mire of life. I share that I wouldn’t haven’t made it if I didn’t think He was by my side the whole way.

Trials help mold us. Sure, we have to face adversity when they come, but when you are able to persevere and move on, you have a positive memory of defeating the adversity.

I know it is hard when trials comes, but rely on God to see you through and use them to grow, and witness to others.

Remember:

You are not alone.

You are not forsaken.

You are not unloved.

Above all….never, ever, give up!
