Doug Bolton, the founder of the blog, Signs of Hope, which is at www.dailysignsofhope.com, has written a new book, “Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.” It will be reaching out the many military and veterans who may be battling anxiety, fear, depression, addictions, rejections, and the many other usual suspects. There are 22 military connected suicides every day. That is almost one every hour. Doug wants to help stop those statistics. Doug sent off his mini proposal to an agent who is very interested in his concept. We will update you when we hear more.

I have had a few other interviews recently with military veterans. I have been pretty ill, and haven’t the energy to do much. That is why there haven’t been many post here. I am trying to get back into writing more often.

The latest person I have met, I haven’t had a chance to sit and talk with. I just met him yesterday. I was doing some testing at the hospital, and when I was done. A, 79 year old, man who was very enthusiastic about his job helped me out to where my wife had the car.

As we went, I asked him some questions about his work. I also asked him if he had been in the military. He said yes. We both were in about the same time. He was in from 1955-58, and I was in from 1959-62. I have his name and contact information. We will doing some coffee visits, and sharing thoughts on the military in the future. What we shared will be in upcoming posts.

+ Side note.

The tests I was taking were to find out if I had throat cancer, and to see why I was having pain in the prostrate area. The results were that I didn’t have throat cancer. The pain I was having in the prostrate area can be treated with a strong fiber formula they prescribed.

I had another test day before yesterday, to see if I had cancer or and infection on my spine. Result won’t be for a few days, so come coming back to find out the results. I will post it here as soon as I find out.

I hope you are enjoying the personal touch of this site. I sometimes over share, (Wife says that) but I am sure there are many other people going through the same pains I have endured and will benefit from being there with me.

I have been working very hard on my new book, “Signs of Hope: For the Military. I feel that it will help many soldiers and their families. The appendix for this book will have one of the most complete lists available for finding help in any area a person may be searching for pertaining to the military.

Be looking for updates on the book and other news at this site, or at http://www.dailysignsofhope.com.

Two steps forward and one step back make the walk of life very slow. So many people  are one the same path. They trudge along, not knowing or caring where they are headed.

Are you on that path? Are you unhappy with your current status? Maybe you feel that you are stuck, and have no where to go at your job. You may feel too old to start over and try again.

I am 75 years old. (I know, you are surprised I can still type and sit up to do this post.) I have a book published called, Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World, , that I didn’t start writing until I was 69 years old. It has received a national award from the Reader’s Favorite Awards.

I was a teacher until my retirement in 1995. I felt just like many of you may be feeling right now. What now! I thought I was going to have to sit in my rocking chair and fade away into the sunset.

God had another plan. He pulled me out of the muck and mire on March 31st, 2001 when I was sitting in my Ford Explorer thinking of checking out of this hotel called earth. I cried out to Him for help and He took my hand and has been leading down the right path ever since.

I have to admit, I never grasped the thought that I would be am author some day. The only writing I had done was in journals. Well, much of my first book was taken from those very journals. I didn’t realize I was preparing to publish a book just from my hurts, and pains I had written down.

Don’t let this world overcome you and make you feel you are worthless. There are so many thing you can do to make you feel good and help others at the same time.

It is never too late to start something new no matter what you age is. Behind that next door could be what God had in mind for all along like He did for me.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

Exciting news! We have a new book on the way that I am writing with Dennis Booth, from New South Wales, Australia. It will be called, “Signs of Hope: For the Weak Days.” (Working Title.) It is a compiling of posts that Dennis and I have been doing on my blog at: www.dailysignsofhope.com. There are 0ver 57,000 followers on that site, and it is because so many people are seeking hope and it is provided there.

*Update: 4-4-14.

We have a big delay in writing our book right now. Dennis and I have been going through some physical ailments. I have had to have a defibrillator placed in my chest, and I am struggling with a viral infection. Dennis had surgery last Wednesday on his hip and will down for a while. So the writing process has been slowed a great deal.

I have had quite a ride since I last posted here. I have received some awards for my book, Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World:

  • I have received six new 5 stars awards for my book. Check them out on Amazon.
  • I received a national award from the Reader’s Favorite Awards.
  • I was a runner-up in the MARsocial Author of the Year Awards. (This is like American Idol, except it is for authors.)

All this can be done by anyone of you. It is just doing the hard work of promotion, and persistence. (Like….go to the top of this page and click on bookstore to find out about the book that is receiving so many awards.)

I mentioned above about having some health issues. I seem to have new ones every time I post here. I have had a bad couple of months.

I started feeling exhausted all the time, about two months ago. My cardiologist was seeing me and I told him it was getting worse. he tested my pacemaker and it seemed to be working fine. I continued to feel too tired to even get up each day.

Finally the doctor did a scan of the heart and he had to inform me that my heart was only working at 30% capacity. he felt there need to be something done right away to correct that.

He decided that I need to have a defibrillator placed in my chest. It would function in a manner that would surpass the pacemaker, and would provide a shock treatment if the heart stopped.

I had it put in and the energy went up quickly. I thought we had finally found what I need to enjoy life, and live it on my terms.
Then two weeks later I felt pain going down my left arm. I made an appointment with my cardiologist and he discovered that I had a hematoma forming in the surgery area of my chest. He said it wasn’t life threatening, and It would be OK in a couple of weeks.

I went home and the next day I cam down with a viral infection, and I am just getting over that.

Why am I telling you all of this?

Because I have found that when I start feeling sorry for myself, I go into depression, and battling the usual demons of anxiety, fear, self-doubt, etc.

I give all my pain and agony over to God, and I am able to withstand all the storms and trials that come my way. Is it that simplistic? Yes, it is. God is a very loving God. He cares. He is always there for you. If you ask Him for help he will be there walking with you.

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above ll…never, ever, give up!
