This has been quite a week. I have been in  Texas since Wednesday enjoying the warmer weather and all the great restaurants. Tomorrow is the big game for my alma mater Oregon State University to play the University of Texas. We will be there cheering our team on.

At this time I wonder what the outcome of the gae will be. Will we win, and have us all very happy, or will we lose, and make us feel down.

Life is like that. We sometimes get an outcome we really didn’t want. We lose our job; we get bad news from our doctor, or our health insurance is no longer with us.

That is the time to concentrate on God more. I said more, because we always should be keeping God in mind, in the bad and the good.

Many people only turn to God when the trials and storms come. They feel they can make it on their own just fine the rest of the time.

Remember, God is there for you now. He was there yesterday, and He will be there tomorrow. He is just a prayer away.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

I just heard from several authors on how a writer’s conference they went to was so helpful for them. The keynote speaker inspired them to get back to work with new excitement. I can’t stress enough how important writer’s conferences are.

There are many workshops and displays that can give you ideas, and material to help you become a better writer.

I have even had good success selling my book, “Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World,” at the conference book store.

Had a wonderful time with two of our grandchildren. Anna and I went to see a movie, and an ice cream cone at McDonald’s afterwards. We then watched the Oregon State Beavers football team win their game. I’m an alum of OSU.

Doing special things with loved ones can have lasting memories. You don’t have to search for something elaborate, or fancy to have a wonderful time.

Think about some “little,” things you can to with someone special. It could be a picnic. It could be a walk int he woods together. It may a shopping day, (even if you are like me, and are not sure you like to shop.)

Get creative, and surprise someone today. You will have fun and they will be grateful.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever,  give up!

Don’t let Failure Cause You to Give up. God is Always There

What a weekend this has been. I am a alum of Oregon State University, and I saw my Beavers lose yet another game yesterday to the UCLA bruins. We played fairly well, but just two mistakes caused the loss of the game.

We have all made mistakes. Have you ever made one that cost you the game?

I have certainly been close. I have made many mistakes in my lifetime. I paid for some of them for many years, and learned a great deal from all of them.

Life is a learning process, and God sometimes allows us to make mistakes to learn from them.

It isn’t like we knew we were making a mistakes, we often think we made the right decision and then realize that we made the wrong turn at the crossroads.

The wonderful thing about all of this is that God allows U-turns. You can always come back to Him and ask for forgiveness. It is never too late to put on the brakes, and turn around.

Don’t let one failure cause you to give up. God was there before you made that mistake, and He will be there afterwards as well.

Turn your bitterness, and self-doubt over to Him, and feel the relief, and peace of knowing all the worry is gone.

My book, “Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World,” is all about self-doubt, anxiety, fear, depression, addictions, hopelessness, etc.

I have been to many crossroads, and I share in the book how I coped each time I reached that spot, plus how God can hold your hand through the storms.

This book may not seem exactly what you thing is right for you, but think about your friends and family. I can bet you can think of someone who would benefit a great deal from the support this book gives.
