Military news…

First one is a little funny to me.

An 84-year-old man in Germany has been ordered to pay a fine of 250,000 euros after he was discovered to have an arsenal of World War II-era weapons in his cellar. The arsenal included a 40-ton Panther tank, one of the best tanks of the war.

U.S. Air Force B-52 bombers and AC-130 gunships are back dropping airstrikes on Afghanistan in an attempt to stop the Taliban’s blitzkrieg throughout the country. But so far, it does not appear to be working: at least five more of Afghanistan’s 17 provincial capitals have fallen to the Taliban over the past week.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will ask for President Joe Biden’s approval by mid-September to make the COVID-19 vaccines mandatory. But it might be a lot easier said than done.

________________

U.S. service members could face a range of punishments, including administrative separation and court-martial, for refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine once it becomes mandatory. Commanders have a “range of tools to try to help individuals make the right decisions,” Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said on Tuesday.

Starting in October, the Air Force will break with decades of tradition by allowing its members to put their hands in their pockets while in uniform. The change is one of many grooming and uniform updates that loosen up restrictions for airmen (several of which involve hair).

I have been connected with a SFC in Kabul, Afghanistan. She is fearful that the city will be over run soon. She is very brave to be one of the last of the military still there. However, if the city is finally overrun, she is in a big harms way. The Taliban have no sense of mercy, and she will be killed.

I will keep you updated. We talk daily.

I saw a report on the new Apache helicopter. It will be awesome is much more deadly. It has tracking devices where no one can hide from them at all.

I have a buddy who was in Vietnam and he was a helicopter pilot. Great stories from him.

I am reminding you that I stopped sharing excerpts from my upcoming book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of th Trenches of Life.

If you want to read some of them, you will have to go to the archives to find them.

I am sure you will enjoy the book when it does come out. It is full of stories of my time in the military, and I share hope for those suffering from anxiety, fear, PTSD, TBI, and war wounds.

Military news….

If the United States and China get into a shooting war, there is a good chance it would start in Taiwan. China has viewed the island off its coast as a renegade province for more than 70 years, but now the Chinese military is stronger than ever and could carry out its claim.

An Air Force lieutenant colonel showed courageous restraint last week when a man on the street harassed him and an enlisted airman outside a Metro stop in Washington D.C. Not everyone can remain so calm when a stranger is yelling in your face and trying to punch you, but this man did.

“It’s never as good as it seems and it’s never as bad as it seems, but keep your head and there’s always a way out.” That’s from Norm Hooten, a retired Delta Force soldier who was played by Eric Bana in the 2001 film “Black Hawk Down.”

This will be a very short post today. Got too many things to get done.

________________________________

One of the many things that bugs me about the military is that there are way too many people in the civilian ranks who hate the military. I posted a story above about the soldiers that were attacked by a creep for no known reason. The LTC Colonel was really calm and worked out perfectly.

However, that is not acceptable! These men were serving their country, and may have been put in harms way so that the jerk could get aggressive.

A junior sailor accused of setting the fire that destroyed the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard last year had previously attempted to become a Navy SEAL. He also appears to have an affinity for the film “Apocalypse Now.”

“If you get qualified as a cyber Marine, you ain’t ever leaving, unless you want to.” That’s what former Marine Commandant Gen. Robert Neller said in 2018 about the Corps’ need for a cyber force. Now, three years later, the Marines finally seem to be putting action to words by rolling out four new jobs tailor-made for the cyber fight.

______________

An Air Force senior master sergeant wrote a typo-riddled letter demanding “flawless” paperwork from their subordinates. While I couldn’t find the NCO’s name, some of their errors include writing “non-comisioned” officers in the heading, and “see my personally” in the body.

I shared with you on my last post the total outline of my upcoming book, Signs of hope for the Military; In and Out of the Trenches of Life.

Got good reactions from you. That is very encouraging.

I was at a doctor’s appointment yesterday, and when the doctor concluded the procedure she asked me questions:

  1. How do you feel about the new president of our country? My answer was, “I haven’t liked one decision he has made.
  2. What do you think the veterans think of him? I said according to RallyPoint, a veteran social network for only Military, close to 90% do not like him.
  3. What have the veterans said about the Afghan war? I said, Many are very upset that President Biden hasn’t done everything he can to get the interpreters out of harms way. I went on to tell her that a correspondent has been trying desperately to get an interpreter out, and the interpreter email him saying, “Please help me! They threw a Molotov cocktail at my home!”
