Doug Bolton, the founder of the blog, Signs of Hope, which is at www.dailysignsofhope.com, has written a new book, “Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.” It will be reaching out the many military and veterans who may be battling anxiety, fear, depression, addictions, rejections, and the many other usual suspects. There are 22 military connected suicides ever day. That is almost one every hour. Doug wants to help stop those statistics. Doug sent off his mini proposal to an agent who is very interested in his concept. We will update you when we hear more.

It is only three more days until Christmas. Many of us have all our Christmas shopping done. The plans for the family gatherings are in place. There will be times of joy, sharing, and love, when the families get together.

Now, think about the people who are in the military and won’t be home with their loved ones. I had to go through that when I was serving my country in Korea. It was cold a dreary at the Christmas I spent with many other soldiers.

We did what we could to cheer each together up, but in the end, the emptiness and loneliness, crept into our souls, since we knew that our loved ones back home were spending quality time together, and we weren’t.

Don’t forget the thousands of military who are serving overseas right now. Pray for them, and keep them in your thoughts. I was told this very morning that there are 20,000 to 30,000 military just in Korea alone.

Have yourself a very Merry Christmas, but please do not forget those who are away helping us to have the freedom to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ.

Remember if you are in the  military:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

I had one post recently on writer’s block. Today I was writing OK, but just needed to get away from the computer. My back was hurting, and my vision was getting blurry.

Today, I stopped, and did my laundry, loaded the dishwasher, and watched a movie. That was enough time to rest my eyes from the close screen, and flex my back a little.

There are times when writer’s block isn’t the only problem. You may need to get away just to refresh yourself.

Some of us are so disappointed in what we see as love— even to the point we can’t imagine God’s love.

I have a friend who was all set to be married, and his wife, to be, told him she changed her mind and left him broken hearted just weeks before the wedding. To add an insult to injury, she married another guy within six months. My friend has never married, and is still careful about his relationships with women.

The problem is—human love is convenient.  It’s limited.  We can’t depend on it.  It’s hormones—it’s emotional.  Like eating the wrong thing before you go to bed.  It felt good at first—but now?  Not so much! It actually leads to heart burn.

However, God’s love is unlimited.  It is commitment. God has feelings for us, but his feelings don’t dictate his love.  God’s love is based on His decision!  His love is deeper and more secure than anything you’ve ever experienced in your life. God never Changes. His love is eternal.

So what do we do to make our love a better version?  How about if we express God’s love in our human relationships? How about we become that “someone” in the life of another who can look back and say, “I saw God’s love in them!”

I realize that could be very hard to do if you were like my friend. He did nothing wrong. He was struck down for no reason. However, I can tell you that my friend is a most loving guy, that may not know how to show it sometimes, but he would give you the shirt off of his back.

This is what real love is: It is not our love for God; it is God’s love for us. He sent his Son to die in our place to take away our sins.  Dear friends, if God loved us that much we also should love each other. No one has ever seen God, but if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is made perfect in us.  I John 4:9-12″

If we could show that much love, the world would be a very different place.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken,

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

Thoughts just for you…

Do you feel God might use you in same way to fulfill His purposes? If you do, you are right. Let me share some of the things God did to fulfill His purposes in the Old Testament:

  • He used people to accomplish His purposes.
  • He used events and personalities to illustrate important truths.
  • He used prophets  to announce the coming Messiah.
  • He used sacrifices to prepare the people to understand the Messiah’s coming work.

We learn to have faith from all of this pre-teachings. Without this enduring faith, we could easily be blown away by the winds of temptation, false teachings, or persecution.

To prevent having an unbelieving heart, stay in fellowship with other believers, talk daily about your mutual faith, and beware of the deceitfulness of sin. Also encourage one another with love and concern.

When you are truly in the faith, you will know God’s purpose for you. You will seek ways to accomplish that purpose, all for God’s glory.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

Above all…never, ever, give up!
