It is late in the evening. It is Thanksgiving Eve. I am sitting here wondering what I have to be thankful for.

Let me list some:

  • I am married to a wonderful wife who cares for me, and knows me well enough to know when I am hurting. She is always there for me, and never doubts me.
  • I have three children that I sometimes feel I don’t deserve. That are all successful in their fields, and are Christian. They married Christian spouses as well. They constantly lift me up when I am down, and always have me back when I need them.
  • I have seven beautiful grandchildren, I could tell you about each and everyone of them, but I would be up for hours. They are all Christians, and are leaders in their schools.
  • My mother is still alive at the age of 95. She still smiles and tells me she loves me. She needs help each day and is a wheel chair, but I don’t flinch at the opportunity to help her since she helped me everyday when I was little.
  • Some people complain about their in-laws, but I have the most wonderful in-laws a person could ask for. We have such a great time every year when we gather for Thanksgiving. I look forward to  tomorrow when we will laugh, eat, and share stories we need to do to catch up.

Thanksgiving is being thankful for the things we have, not the things we want.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

When you write a book that finally gets published, you are so excited that you feel you have accomplished more than you could ever dream.

That isn’t where it ends. I have had so many comments through letters, phone calls, emails, and in person about my book, “Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World,” since it has been published. The comments are on how the book has helped them.

This is what writing is all about. You work hard to get your manuscript in good order, and then one day your work pays off. You get published. But, then the rewards of your labor start coming in when people make positive comments about your book.

Keep plugging away at writing that book. I know it’s hard work,  but in the end you will receive many positive rewards.

How do we we deal with pain that is around 24/7? I can relate to that because I have had chronic back pain for almost a month now.

God didn’t promise a rose garden. He didn’t say we would never face trials and storms. He did let s know that He will help calm the storms.

What we need to do is pray for comfort from God through our time in the muck and mire. He is there to hold our hand and be there for us. Never assume that God is far away. If you do, guess who moved.

Stay strong through your storms and you will be a positive example to others who are going through their own trials.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

Why would you want to enter a contest with your book? It costs you some money and your chances aren’t very good.

That was my feelings until I entered the “Reader’s Favorite Awards,” contest. I think it cost me around $25.00.

The results turned out much better than I could have ever dreamed. I received a 5 star review, and was a finalist in the category of “Self Help.”

Because I was a finalist, I also received stickers to put on my book, “Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World.” It is now considered an award winning book, and I have sold many books by being able to show my 5 star reveiws and have an award sticker on the book.

Don’t pass up this kind of opportunity. Check out the people who put on the award to make sure the are for real, and then go for it.

My $25.00 investment paid off in a big way through many more sales because of the 5 star review and being named a finalist.

What happens when life doesn’t go our way? What do we do when the clouds come and darken our day?

I have been there. I have had many disappointments and failures in my life. At one  point I was overcome by all the trials and storms I had to go through, and was extremely depressed. I was to the point where I was sitting in my Ford Explorer, and considering suicide.

What stopped me, and changed my life?

As I sat in that rig crying my eyes out, I yelled out to God, ” I can’t take this anymore.” At that moment there was a calmness in my heart, and it was then I knew that God was saying, “It’s about time you cam back to me. Now let me carry you the rest of the way.”

God is never far away. If He is, guess who moved? My desperate prayer was heard and God saved my life.

Don’t ever give up. Always know that you have someone to turn to in your darkest moments.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!
