It sometimes seems hard to trudge to work each day. Some jobs are not all that fun to go to. I was a very lucky man and worked as a teacher. The rewards were much brighter than the dark days of winter when I had to drive to work in the snow.

I did have those days when I wondered if I really wanted to get up and go to work. Then I would see a garbage man loading up someone’s garbage on a very raining day and the wind was blowing.

Sure I was going to a school where there are kids yelling and needing control, but to be out in the cold and shivering in a job that not many people would want to have made me glad to see the kids coming into my class. Besides, they always warmed me up with their smiling faces.

Do you have a kind of job that you wish you didn’t have? Do you drag yourself out of bed and force yourself to get ready? You aren’t alone. There are millions of people just like you. Off to work. Work hard all day. Come home, too tired to do anything but eat dinner and go to bed. Sound familiar?

God uses people in what ever job they may have. He doesn’t care if you dig ditches, or are a CEO for a huge business. He uses the meek, poor, rich, ordinary people of this earth.

What ever your lot is on life, God can use you. He will guide you to do far more wonderful things than you could ever imagine, if you just let Him.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

God, I Can’t Take This Anymore!

The suicide of Robin Williams wakes us up again to the dangers of depression. My new book coming out soon, Signs of Hope for the Military, concentrates on helping the soldiers with their depression. We need more books and resources to reach out to those who suffer anxiety, fear, depression, self-doubt, and the many other usual suspects.

There are far too many young people, on this hotel called earth, that go that drastic next step to end their pain.

I know a great deal about this because I have been there. I was breathing my last breaths in 2001. I was sitting in my Ford explorer, and contemplating suicide.

I finally cried out to God, “I can’t take this anymore!”  At that moment I felt such a relief, and it seemed God was saying to me, “It is about time you came back to me. Now let me carry you the rest of the way.”

God saved my life that day, and He then lead me to write my first book, Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World. The book was awarded over twenty 5 star reviews, and won a national award from the Reader’s Favorite Awards.

If you or someone you know is dealing with depression, please check out the bookstore at the top of this page, and see information about the book, Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World. I am not seeking a lot of money from this. I just want to help as many people as I can. Please tell others about the book if you like it.

How you doing? Do you seem to have more dark days than sunshine in your life? Are you floundering in the muck and mire? You aren’t alone, over 19 million people in the United States alone suffer from from depression type symptoms.

Satan loves to torment people and give them pain and suffering. Fight back. Hit Satan in the face, and tell him he is grass and you are a lawn mower. Don’t let him put you up on his trophy wall.

Get help and read as many books as you can that share how to cope in this not so friendly world, like, Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World, does.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

How do I Handle Criticism?

I want to say a huge thank you to all of you who have been subscribing to this site. Not long ago there were 884 subscribers. Today there are 1,330! That is almost 500 new subscribers. We are growing fast.

Why is this happening?  I try to share news about my book here, but I also share words of encouragement, and hope. It is the last part that is drawing in so many people. This is because many people in this hotel called earth, are suffering from anxiety, fear, depression, addictions, and the many other usual suspects.

I am excited so many of you are joining me here. I want to keep the tremendous effort going. You can keep it going by subscribing today if you haven’t already. Just click on the icon right after the title on this page to do that.

A quick update on my writing. My first book has received a national award from the Reader’s Favorite  Awards. It is an honor to be so fortunate to achieve this award.

My second book, Signs of Hope: For the Weak Days, is about half way through. My co-author Dennis Booth and I from New South Wales, Australia, are working hard to try to get this out for fall of this year.

I have even started a new book with a working title of, Signs of Hope: For the Military. I really have a feel for this one. I am a veteran, and so is one of my sons, who is a career soldier. I am writing this book because I am heart broken about the many suicides that occur in the military. It is much higher in percentage than the private sector. I want to reach out to the military, and show them hope.

How Can I Face Criticism?

We make judgments all the time. People make judgments about you and me all the time.

I would guess all of you have faced criticism sometime in your life. I certainly have. It isn’t pleasant to go through. When someone criticizes you it causes you to have self-doubt, anxiety, and even depression.

I have some thoughts on criticism:

  • Criticism always seems to come when you least need it.
  • Criticism always comes when we least deserve it.
  • Criticism always comes from people who are least qualified to give it.
  • Criticism frequently comes in a form that is least helpful to us. (Gossip)

We need to know that:

  • With every achievement there is a price.
  • With every goal there is an opponent.
  • Some people put others down to make themselves look better.

Don’t let those negative people away you. Dr Suess was turned down 28 times before he got his first book published, and yet his books are national best sellers every year now.

Reach for that goal you have had forever and achieve it. Keep trudging down the narrow path to success. There are many rewards waiting there for you.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all….never, ever, give up!
