Military news…

An anonymous person wrote a letter threatening to charge the U.S. Army with war crimes for administering COVID-19 vaccines, mask mandates and COVID testing. Best of all, after accusing the service of “crimes against humanity and genocide,” the writer ends with a polite “Have a blessed day!”

A 21-year-old recruit died earlier this month on his first training day at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. However, the circumstances surrounding the death of Pvt. Anthony Munoz is still unclear, as the Marine Corps is keeping those details close to the chest.

An Army lieutenant colonel supposedly wrote a widely-read resignation letter alleging a “Marxist takeover of the military,” but the Army has decided not to say anything about it. The reason Lt. Col. Paul Hague thinks Marxists are taking over is because of the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Willingly or not, Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has been pulled into partisan politics. How did this Green Beret, who started his tenure as one of President Trump’s “tough guys” become the fall guy for both Democrats and Republicans?

An American drone strike in Kabul on Aug. 29 that killed 10 innocent civilians was based on faulty intelligence. Specifically, the intel asserted that a “key element” of an impending attack was a white Toyota Corolla, which happens to be the most ubiquitous vehicle in Afghanistan and has been described as “the car of Afghanistan.”

It doesn’t matter that you’re not a medic, or a therapist, or a first responder. The fact is, you are now the one connection to life that they have. And that’s just part of the first step of Duane K.L. France’s brief but intense guide to helping veterans who are contemplating suicide. It’s a tough position to be in, but one where you may save a life, if you know what you’re doing.

Military news…

A VA employee is under investigation for allegedly sharing a patient’s medical information on Twitter in a (poor) attempt at a joke about how penis surgery for the patient is a waste of taxpayer money. The tweet was not only a HIPAA violation, but it was also a callous barb against emotional and physical injuries that thousands of veterans, old and young, suffer from.

The baby daughter of one of the 13 American service members killed in a suicide bombing last month in Afghanistan was born on Sept. 13 and given a warm welcome from her Marine Corps family and beyond. Levi Rylee Rose McCollum, daughter of Lance Cpl. Rylee McCollum and his wife Jiennah, “came roaring into this world and graced us all with her presence,”

The Army finally revealed why a soldier is being court-martialed for a mysterious firefight that took place in Syria last year. Though the details of the firefight itself are still murky, Sgt. 1st Class Robert Nicoson allegedly disobeyed orders and recklessly led his men into a gunfight with Syrian government forces, then attempted to cover up the evidence.

900 U.S. troops are still over there and nobody knows why. U.S. troops first went there to help destroy the Islamic State group’s former caliphate, but now they are stuck in between their Kurdish allies, Turkish forces who want to destroy those Kurdish allies, and the remnants of ISIS.

Remember the F-117 Nighthawk, the arrow-shaped stealth jet that kicked serious butt in Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom? It’s back. Though the attack plane officially retired in 2008, the Air Force has low-key brought it back over the past few years for training missions with fighter crews, and the service publicly confirmed a recent Nighthawk training mission on Thursday.

Military news…

Air Force Lt. Col. John “Karl” Marks made history earlier this month for accumulating more flight hours in the legendary A-10 attack plane than any other pilot in history. But hitting that milestone is only the latest achievement for Marks, who began his career busting a record number of Iraqi tanks in Desert Storm.

What else can schools do to create stronger programs for veterans
Universities are beginning to think outside the traditional box, building degree programs that recognize the knowledge military members obtain in the service.

Some people use their day off to watch TV. Others use it to overthrow their government. At least, that’s what Guinean special operations forces being trained by American Green berets did during a down day in the West African country earlier this month. The U.S. has since cut off support to the Guinean armed forces because of the overachievers, according to Pentagon officials.

A Marine sergeant serving with the Navy’s ‘Blue Angels’ flight demo team definitely earned the ‘Angel’ name when he saved three kids from drowning in 2019. Like other service members who found themselves in similar situations, Sgt. Zachary Parsons did not spend time thinking about whether he should dive into the current off the North Carolina shore; he just did it.
