I have been struggling lately. I have been diagnosed with severe multilevel degenerative disc disease, and facet arthrosis throughout the lumbar spine. The pain is very hard to handle. I am taking some meds to help, but the pain is still there.

I have been referred to an orthopedic doctor. Waiting to get his call to schedule.

I went to acupuncture, but the doctor there decided that my problem was too big for him to handle.

I know that my back problems are from a jeep accident I had in the military. I was thrown from the jeep back first onto a big boulder. The impact was so hard I lost consciousness. I woke up in a medic tent screaming in pain. They rushed to get me some morphine. That helped.

I have had three back surgeries through the years and still deal with a lot of pain.

Why do I whine? It is because I encourage all my brothers and sisters in the military to reach out for help. So many veterans end their lives because they are tired of the pain.

Seek help if you need it!!

I am down to my last three interviews for my upcoming book, Signs of hope for the Military: In ans Out of the Trenches of life.

Those interviews are:

    1. Charles Strange- a Gold Star father 2.

    Milton Hoch- a Vietnam veteran.

    3. A submariner who was on a nuclear sub.

These three interviews will be exciting. The Vietnam interview will be riveting, and most interesting.

I was talking to a Vietnam veteran the other day. it was just a casual talk, but I asked him one question. I said, “What was the worst thing you faced while serving.”

His answer was, “Coming home and having to face the protesters at the airport. They spit on us, yelled profanity at us, and disgraced us.”

That was a very sad part of our history. Those men and women put their lives in danger by serving in Vietnam, They should have been considered heroes, instead of what happened to them.

We need to thank all of our service people for their time serving their country. Not many did that and they put their lives in danger.

So if you see a veteran, tell him or her thank you.

This old warrior is battling pain. I have arthritis in my right hip and I can hardly walk. Went to a acupuncture doctor yesterday, and I have scheduled several more appointments to see if that may help.

Getting older is not for sissies.

I had the privilege to meet a Vietnam veteran while shopping for groceries. I seem to have the knack to find them. This guy is a true hero. His name is Milt Hoch. He had three tours in Vietnam. He didn’t have to. He chose to.

He was in intense fighting, even face to face fighting. He was once stabbed through both legs at once with a bayonet. He was still able to kill the enemy and survive.

I have an interview with him in my upcoming book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life. It is riveting.

Keep coming back to hear about other heroes. Better yet…go to the top of this page and click on subscribe. When you do all future posts will go directly to your inbox.
