Do you listen to the LORD when He speaks to you? Have there been times when you knew God was speaking to you, and you decided that you had other plans that were more important?
This is a common act by many of us. We probably don’t even know when God is speaking to us. We may think it is our own conscious trying to convince us something.
God speaks very clearly about wanting us to answer His call. We are to put Him first in our plans, and not think that something we love is more important than our love for Him.
Think on This:
- God provides for those who love Him. Don’t you think we should be doing something in return for Him?
- If you have something that is more important than God, it is an idol. What are your idols?
- Sometimes even the smallest tasks are very important to God. Don’t think you need to do something grand, and important to please God.
The Lord does not give us rules, but He makes His standard very clear. If our relationship to Him is that of love, we should do what He says without hesitation. If we hesitate it is because something else is more important.
The goal is that when we stand face to face with God He can show us what a wonderful difference we made when we obeyed His calling.
Take a time out like in a basketball game, and see if you have a winning team. Do you always try to serve others. Do you put priorities in the right order? What have you done in recent weeks that you can say was really serving God? Be happy if there is something you have done, and start serving if you haven’t yet.
I was once a self-centered person who looked out for #1. It didn’t get me very far. I felt empty, and alone, because I was not connecting with those around me.
When I got involved in my church and starting serving others, my world changed, and I felt gratification beyond anything I could have imagined. I didn’t do it for my own glory. I did it for God’ glory alone. That gave me peace and joy.
Pray to God and directly ask Him what He would like you to do. He probably has been waiting for you to do this. He even may have sent you messages and they went unanswered.
The old saying, “try it you’ll like it,” fits well here.
