This was also the time WWII started. I had three uncles enlisted to fight in that war. Two of them earned Purple Hearts.

My mother loved General Douglas MaCarthur so much she gave me his first name.

It was great to just be able to talk to him. He is 98 years young and looking great.

My interview with him was full of near death experiences, and stories about freeing Jews from concentration camps. It is a must read.

  9. A WWII veteran shares how he was pinned down by enemy fire and was able to escape.
