The transition to an all-volunteer force came with a pay raise and, initially, recruiting numbers were high. But in the years that followed, morale dropped. Pay stagnated, and the quality of recruits declined.

Poll: Most Alabama Voters Want Tuberville to Drop Military Hold
Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s block stems from his disagreement with the Pentagon over its abortion policy—which reimburses service members who travel across state lines for the procedure. The poll, conducted by Public Policy Polling and commissioned by VoteVets, found that 58% of Alabama voters think Tuberville has “made his point.”

Hawaii wildfire death toll reaches 111 as Biden announces Maui visit
Troops from bases in Hawaii have arrived on Maui, where President Joe Biden is expected to visit Monday, to assist at the scene of a deadly wildfire that ravaged the town of Lahaina, according to U.S. Army Pacific.
