It has been over three months since I last posted. I doing some whining and move on.
Back in October, I went to sleep on a Sunday night. I woke the next morning screaming in pain. My wife didn’t know what to do to help me so she called 911.
The ambulance took me to the ER. They checked me out and sent me to the hospital.
I was in the hospital for six days. On the fourth day. I had a near death experience. I was laying on my bed, and the nurse left me check the main monitor in the other room. She left instantly and came back with three doctors and several nurses.
They all were checking my blood pressure monitor. What happened was that my blood pressure dropped from a normal 125/65 in less that five minutes to 80/50. They did some things, and my blood pressure went back to normal eventually.
I was told later that I was going to die if it kept dropping.
Two days later I was sent to a rehab facility. There I learned to walk again with a walker. It was slow and painful. I progressed a little each day. I was working with PT and OT specialists. They did a wonderful job helping me.
I got out of rehab 30 days later, and was sent home. That was a total of one month!
I have done a lot of progress since then. This is my first time at the computer in three months.
I thank all the people who worked with me to get me back to a living person.

It is important to stay connected with fellow veterans. I have been trying to do that for years.
I have a friend that I meet with every Tuesday and Thursday for coffee. We catch up with the world, and our feelings. Always feel refreshed when I leave.
I have a Zoom meeting every Tuesday morning. There is a veteran on there, and we even went to high school together. Fun stories and serious talk.
Seek out other veterans and share your good stories and your hurts.
Some people think we should be cutting back on funding for the military. Are they deaf and blind? We are near a war with several countries, and the writing on the wall says, stand ready!
Can’t be ready if we are cutting back on equipment and troops.
I am still waiting to have a couple more interviews of veterans for my upcoming book, Signs of Hope for the Military, in and Out of the Trenches of Life. When I get those done, then it is off to my publisher, Bookbaby.

NATO kicked off a nearly two-week U.S.-led naval exercise on the Baltic Sea on Sunday with more than 7,000 sailors, airmen and marines from 16 nations.
The deadening gloom of a long war worries the Kremlin because of the challenge of dragging the population along as sanctions bite, businesses retrench, prices continue to surge and it dawns on people that life may never go back to the way it was.
Eighty years ago this weekend, a military miracle unfolded. The U.S. Navy ambushed the Japanese fleet at the Battle of Midway and altered the course of World War II.
I had three uncles who fought in WWII. They were my heroes. It is the main reason I joined the military. I wanted to continue the tradition of my family in the military. My son followed me into the military and retired as a Colonel.
Each uncle had an important part of the war. My uncle Claude was a Seabee. They put in brides, and roads vital to the advancement of the troops.
My uncle Dwight, was a tanker. He was the lead man in his tank and was the driver. There were three or four guys in his tank. One day he stopped the tank and opened the hatch to get some fresh air into the tank. It turned out to be a huge mistake. A Japanese soldier came along and tossed a grenade into the tank. It instantly killed my uncle’s best friend, and the rest were wounded. My uncle received a Purple Heart for that. He never recovered in his mind from that incident. He took to his grave the feeling of failure by having his best friend killed.
My third uncle Norton was in the infantry. He was fighting in France when his platoon was overrun by the Germans They came through the troops, and if they found anyone alive, they killed them. My uncle played dead, and survived. He was also wounded and received a Purple Heart.
These three stories are just a few of the stories I share in my upcoming book, Signs of Hope for the military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.
