A new report calls on Congress to codify into law a Supreme Court decision that allows service members to take state employers to court if they feel the state has violated federal laws that ban discrimination against employees because of their military service.

Russia may face a longer and deeper recession as the impact of U.S. and European sanctions spreads, handicapping sectors that the country has relied on for years to power its economy, according to an internal report prepared for the government.

Military-themed beer company hits it big in Walmart ‘Open Call’ competition: ‘I knew it would be huge’

While driving through Annapolis and seeing the Naval Academy for the first time, businessman Alan Beal had an idea to create a beer specifically for service members. Seven years later, that thought has turned into a growing business producing three beers that will soon be sold at a major nationwide retailer.

Japan calls live-fire drills by Russia, China near disputed islands a ‘serious concern’

Russian and Chinese warships fired machine guns off Japan’s northernmost prefecture over the weekend, part of a military exercise that elicited protests from the Japanese government.

I have been doing some changes lately on this site. I hope you enjoy them. i will now be sharing some news from the Veterans of Foreign War magazine and the American Legion magazine. There will be interesting tidbits of information from each:

The VFW magazine has the following statistics:

  1. 10 Billion- the total annual amount the VFW helped veterans recoup VA Disability compensation, and pension benefits.
  2. 25- The number of time the VFW has testified before congress in the last 12 months. Leading to many victories for the veterans.
  3. 10.65 million Amount of scholarships awarded to more than 2,372 veterans and service members since January 2014.

The American Legion magazine has the following information:

  1. Highlights of the 2022 defense bill: 2.7 pay raise for service members. 7.1 Billion in new spending for the Pacific Deterrence Initiative. 4 Billion for the European Defense Initiative. A statement of congressional support for the defense of Taiwan. 300 million for the Ukraine Security Initiative.
  2. 77% of Americans who agree military families experience more financial stress than the average family.
  3. 76% of Americans think the military doesn’t do enough to teach financial literacy.

The nation’s newest aircraft carrier, the Enterprise, reaches a milestone

The more than 1,100-foot-long, 100,000-ton carrier will be the ninth Navy ship to bear the name Enterprise since 1775, according to Capt. Brian Metcalf, the program manager for the new Ford class of aircraft carrier.

South Korean trade unions say joint military drills with US fuel ‘war crisis’

Representatives of South Korea’s largest trade unions are warning that Ulchi Freedom Shield, the largest military exercise by the U.S. and South Korea in five years, runs counter to their members’ interests.

Solomon Islands denies port call for Guam-based US Coast Guard cutter

The Solomon Islands recently denied entry to a U.S. Coast Guard cutter for a scheduled port call, further raising concerns that the Oceania nation is severing U.S. ties in favor of China.

Navy follows through on White House promise to send more warships through Taiwan Strait
The USS Antietam and USS Chancellorsville, both homeported in Yokosuka, sailed “through a corridor of the Strait that is beyond the territorial sea of any coastal State,” 7th Fleet spokesman Mark Langford said in a statement Sunday.

Russia and Ukraine traded claims of rocket and artillery strikes at or near Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, intensifying fears that the fighting could damage the facility and cause a massive radiation leak.
