Why Russian generals keep getting killed in Ukraine

The Russians have lost more general officers than any other military in decades.

(It is because all Generals in battle have to go up on the front lines with the rest of the soldiers.)

What Are They Thinking?

On one of my off days in Korea, I was invited to ride with a courier to the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone.)

I thought that would be very interesting so I accepted the invite. We had to go through several villages, and of course the people didn’t seem to like us. They were shouting things at us I probably didn’t want to hear.

We got to the DMZ. What a depressing place! It was a very small outpost with guards watching the North Koreans on the other side of the DMZ. They let me look through one of their binoculars, and I could see a North Korean soldier looking through his binoculars back at me. It was a very odd feeling. He was just another guy like me, but he would probably shoot me if he could.

There is still strife between the two countries. There is still the DMZ zone. There are soldiers still looking at each other with binoculars. Nothing much has changed, except the lives of those who had to serve in Korea.

They came home and then they had to try to cope in the private sector. They had/have to adjust, and survive. I feel for them, because I was there with them. I know the frustrations. I know the disappointment. I know the feeling that no one cares.

I can say that it is hard to block out the negative aspects of our military service. It is hard to change thoughts into a different world in the private sector. It took me a while to clear my mind and concentrate on the future. I had to realize that I needed to move on and start a new adventure. I needed to think about the next day of my life.

I never have regretted serving my country. I would do it again if I was able. I have learned that I just need to be thankful that I have another day on this earth, and should seek what I can do to better my live and those around me that I love.

IWILL

Some of the soldiers, in the private sector, have some issues still lingering with them from their time in in the service. I understand this. I have had to re-group myself. The key is to do something about it. Don’t hide your feelings. Get the right help to get you back on track in life. There are many resources in the back of this book to help you on your way down your new path of life.

Isn’t it funny that so much of what we fear is only the fear of the unknown?

Military news…

A U.S. Marine brought an Afghan baby to safety over the walls of the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan in video footage that emerged on Thursday. A Marine spokesman called the lift “a true example of the professionalism of the Marines on site.”

______________________

Fox News’ Laura Ingraham says the U.S. is welcoming thousands of ‘unvetted’ refugees from Afghanistan. But know this: she’s wrong. Those Afghans who are coming directly to the U.S. are rigorously vetted under the Special Immigrant Visa system, and those that haven’t are undergoing that process in a third-party country now.

The worst of times can bring out the best in humanity, as demonstrated by Sher Ahmad Ahmadzai, a former Afghan interpreter who, with the help of non-profit groups, attorneys, veterans and other advocates, overcame countless challenges to make it out of the country. A month ago, Ahmadzai and his family were facing near-certain doom, but now they are safe.

The Taliban have not a second of remorse for what they are doing to the people of Afghanistan. They had one woman cook for them. They didn’t like how she cooked so they burned her alive.

There is a story about n American citizen who tried to get into the airport, but a Taliban soldier took her passport and wouldn’t give it back to her. He wanted her to have to stay in his country. A Marine was close and made him give it back to her. A true hero.

My view…

Things are horrible for civilians in Afghanistan. People being killed for no reason. Women rapped. Children being used as sex slaves. If they didn’t like how you did something they kill you.

Our president(Biden) is denying any of this is happening, and yet you can see it in pictures sent home. He thinks things are going smoothly, and so does Kamala Harris. Are they on another planet?

They are full of denial, and not accepting that they are failing in their duties.

This is not leadership in my opinion. It is the opinion of many people, even many democratic congressmen.

I am thinking Biden may get impeached soon.

No Military news today. Just me ranting and raving. 🙂

I am wondering what our government is thinking lately. President Biden, has said, “Cut the Military budget.” He wants the money for his infrastructure ideas.

Cutting the military budget for this will greatly hamper the military’s abilities to replace outdated equipment and give the soldiers the raise they need.

Doesn’t make much sense to me.

Kamala Harris finally went down south to what she calls the border. Where she went was to El Paso, Texas. That isn’t even close to a trouble spot. I have been to El Paso several times and never felt threatened by illegals.

She needs to go the hot spots and talk to the Border Patrol there to see what is really going on.

I am looking back a ways, but I was very disappointed when Biden called up thousands of the National Guard to “protect,” the Capital.

When they got there it was all over. No rioting, no thousands of protestors. Silence.

He kept them there for a couple of weeks or more. What a waste of your tax payers money.

Drafted Soldiers are Totally Different From the Enlisted Men

One of the interesting things while I was in the military were the drafted soldiers. They were selected in the lottery, or by age. If you were over a certain age you were safe. If you were in College they seemed to leave you alone, but if you were not you were prime bait.

There were a lot of bitterness coming from these soldiers. They didn’t want to be there and they let you know about it. Those of us that were enlisted got very tired of their whining, and had several “blanket parties,” because of it.

A blanket party is when a group of soldiers cover up another soldier with a blanket and roughed him up a little. A blanket party could also be when a soldier hasn’t showered for a long time even after all the rigorous training we had.

The draftees only had to serve two years. By the time you were through basic training and your MOS (your job) training you only has about one year left. You could almost do that standing on your head.

I felt like I was doing something good for my country, and for me as well. The military changed my life completely. I needed the structure. I needed the discipline. I needed the special training. I needed to get away from my safe haven at home, and learn more about the world. I got all of that in the three years I served. I felt the draftees should have thought about this themselves.
