Exciting news! We have a new book on the way that I am writing with Dennis Booth, from New South Wales, Australia. It will be called, “Signs of Hope: For the Weak Days.” (Working Title.) It is a compiling of posts that Dennis and I have been doing on my blog at: www.dailysignsofhope.com. There are 0ver 57,000 followers on that site, and it is because so many people are seeking hope and it is provided there.

*Update: 4-4-14.

We have a big delay in writing our book right now. Dennis and I have been going through some physical ailments. I have had to have a defibrillator placed in my chest, and I am struggling with a viral infection. Dennis had surgery last Wednesday on his hip and will down for a while. So the writing process has been slowed a great deal.

I have had quite a ride since I last posted here. I have received some awards for my book, Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World:

  • I have received six new 5 stars awards for my book. Check them out on Amazon.
  • I received a national award from the Reader’s Favorite Awards.
  • I was a runner-up in the MARsocial Author of the Year Awards. (This is like American Idol, except it is for authors.)

All this can be done by anyone of you. It is just doing the hard work of promotion, and persistence. (Like….go to the top of this page and click on bookstore to find out about the book that is receiving so many awards.)

I mentioned above about having some health issues. I seem to have new ones every time I post here. I have had a bad couple of months.

I started feeling exhausted all the time, about two months ago. My cardiologist was seeing me and I told him it was getting worse. he tested my pacemaker and it seemed to be working fine. I continued to feel too tired to even get up each day.

Finally the doctor did a scan of the heart and he had to inform me that my heart was only working at 30% capacity. he felt there need to be something done right away to correct that.

He decided that I need to have a defibrillator placed in my chest. It would function in a manner that would surpass the pacemaker, and would provide a shock treatment if the heart stopped.

I had it put in and the energy went up quickly. I thought we had finally found what I need to enjoy life, and live it on my terms.
Then two weeks later I felt pain going down my left arm. I made an appointment with my cardiologist and he discovered that I had a hematoma forming in the surgery area of my chest. He said it wasn’t life threatening, and It would be OK in a couple of weeks.

I went home and the next day I cam down with a viral infection, and I am just getting over that.

Why am I telling you all of this?

Because I have found that when I start feeling sorry for myself, I go into depression, and battling the usual demons of anxiety, fear, self-doubt, etc.

I give all my pain and agony over to God, and I am able to withstand all the storms and trials that come my way. Is it that simplistic? Yes, it is. God is a very loving God. He cares. He is always there for you. If you ask Him for help he will be there walking with you.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above ll…never, ever, give up!

Only three more days until Christmas. I had a wonderful day today. My granddaughter turned eighteen today. It is now past the shortest day of the year, and we can look towards longer days and summer. I also bought the last of my Christmas presents today. A perfect storm for what I needed.

Are you caught up in the rush of Christmas? Have you forgotten what the true meaning of Christmas is? It is the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, and it is the time of giving.

When I was out shopping today, there were tons of cars trying to find that one parking spot. God was good to me, because as I turned one corner in the lot there was a lady ready to pull out. It was right next to the entrance to the store I wanted to go in.

I am always thinking of buying books for people. I did that again today. I know that it can be a lasting present, and the enjoyment goes on for a long time.

Books may be moving to different forms like digital, or in tablets, but for me the hard copy is the true way to read a book. I do have a Kindle, and I have many books on it, but my shelves are full of books that I bought, and acquired an autograph from the author that wrote the book. That is one of the benefits of being an author. We look out for each other.

Books can transport you to another world. They can give you visions of beauty. They can scare you out of your wits. The unknown is lurking on that next page.

Think about buying a book for someone today. They will enjoy it , and you will know that they have gotten something they will remember you by every time they see the book.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

I have had a hectic time as of late. I am spinning around in my head trying to decide what my next book will be after we finish my second book called, “Signs of Hope: For the Weak Days.” My co-author on this book, Dennis Booth, came up with the word weak in the title. It symbolizes the theme of the whole book, The book will be reaching out to those who suffer from anxiety, fear, depression, addictions, rejection, self-doubt, hopelessness, and the many other usual suspects.

We are nearing the half way point in getting the book done, and I hope you keep checking here to see the progress.

I also am looking ahead to what I need to write after this book is published. Here is where you the reader comes in. I am going to list several ideas I have for books in the future, and you tell me which one you would like me to write next:

  • Signs of Hope for Seniors: The Alligators that Chase us. This book will be dedicated directly to my fellow senior citizens who are the fastest growing population in the world. It will share thoughts on aging, financial concerns, illness, ways to cope, death, rejection, anxiety, or fear. There will be other topics, but I wanted to give you a taste of the food before it is even cooked. 🙂
  • Signs of Hope for the military: This one has been burning on my heart fro several months. I keep reading about how many suicides there are in the military. It is so sad. I am a veteran, and my son is a career soldier. He is an executive officer for an general at Ft Lewis Washington. This book will share my own stories while I was in the service; not getting letters from home; being isolated from others while on duty, the self-doubt, and loneliness. There are other stories that will help the soldiers or veterans cope  in a world that doesn’t always understand the way of a soldier.
  • Signs of Hope for the caregivers: I was a caregiver for my mother for several years before she passed. I will talk about the mental strain of seeing your loved one slowly lose their desire to want to go on. There will be stories of daily things that happened while caring for her. I will address the issue of the need for the caregiver to take care of themselves, even though it may seem selfish. May more thoughts and ideas will come out in this book.
  • Other books down the road that are just in the thinking stage: Signs of Hope for: teachers, mothers, dads, teens, etc. But first I need you to comment on the top three I have mentioned above. Which one do your think is the most important one to write next? Please respond. I do need you guidance.

Now for some thoughts for you to use to make your day go more smoothly, and give you comfort:

  • God made you in His own image. If He cares enough to do that, He will certainly care for your needs what ever they are. All you have to do is ask.
  • With God on your side, who can be against you.
  • 99% of what we worry about never happens. Turn the other 01% over to God.
  • Jesus is always there by your side. He will comfort you during your storms, and rejoice with you during your victories.
  • All storms end, and then there is the SON.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!
