Perseverance and Persistence, Two Very Important Words

I want to remind you that I will be at the Oregon State Fair at the Oregon author’s table, signing my book, “Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World.” The fair starts tomorrow at 10:00am and runs through September 5th. I will be there everyday except the 5th form 10:00am-10:00 pm. Drop by and say hello if you are in the area. The fair is held in Salem Oregon.

I recently was at a Oregon Christian Writer’s Conference in Turner, Oregon,  and learned a great deal. I learned that perseverance and persistence pays off. I scheduled appointments with two agents, and three publishers while I was there.

Both agents wanted me to send them more information on my book, “Signs of Hope: Ways to survive in an Unfriendly World.” They felt it had merit, and may want to represent me in the future. This is the first time any agents were interested.

I met with three publishers. All three took my book and asked me to also send them a proposal. This is the first time any publishers were interested.

Do you see a pattern? I have been to this same Oregon Christian Writer’s Conference for four years. I didn’t even get the time of day from any agents or publishers in the past. I stuck to it and kept improving my work. I listened to the  advice the agents and publishers gave me before to improving my chances.

This year, I put all of it together, and I may have worked hard enough to finally have it pay off.  Perseverance and persistence; two of my favorite words.

When We’re lost in a Storm, God makes it a Beautiful Sunset

There is a huge happening on my blog at www.dailysignsofhope.com.  In the last four days over 700 people have signed up for the RSS feed. There is no concrete reason for it happening except for a lady friend of my partner and I suggested we use more of our SEO capabilities, and that is all she said. We are thinking that since she is an expert, she did something to help us by backtracking, or pinging back our site to her own site which has thousands of followers. What ever happened, God certainly has some kind of plan ahead. Stand by and see what that may be.

BTW…. You could do two things on this site as well.. You could also click on the RSS feed area at the top of this page and sign-up to get feeds directly to your mail box from this site. I would honored if you did.

You can also go over to the right side bar, and click on “Follow this blog,” at the NetworkedBlogs icon. You can see that there are already many people doing that there.

I went to a workshop last night, and I had a pleasant surprise. The guest speaker was Sean Jones, who is the person who is the acquisition editor at Inkwater Press.

I met with him afterwards, and mentioned that I am looking for a traditional publisher to publish my self published book.

He was very open to the idea, and told me to send him a copy of my book.

Now, that would have never happen if I didn’t go to that workshop. I almost didn’t. I was tired and had a slight fever. I went anyway, and a door opened!!

That brings to mind that we never now when God may open a door for us. It may seem like we are sinking in the muck and mire, but God still may have plans for us. We need to keep praying and asking God for guidance.

Just when we feel all is lost in the storm, God changes the whole horizon into  a beautiful sunset.

The Royal Wedding Opened my Eyes

I watched the Royal Wedding today, and I was amazed at the structure, and the ritual of the whole event.

Everything has it place and time. Even the Queen of England had her time she was to ride in her car to the wedding.

The clothes were for… well…. Kings and Queens. All the prominent women wore beautiful hats of all sizes. Some seemed to strain to see anything from under them.

As the guests started coming in you could see the King of Norway; the King of Tonga; the Queen of The Netherlands, and of course the Queen of England. All in their full royal gear, and walking down the aisle with many people bowing their heads as they walked by.

Much of the ceremony was very straight, and right out of the Bible.

One of the opening songs was, ” Oh Guide me thy Great Redeemer.”

A quote from one of the Priests: ” This marriage is ordained according to the will of God.”

Another Priest said, ” I declare to you before the terrible day of judgement to repeat after me, William will you take this….”

It was finalized with ” According to God’s law and in the name of the Ftaher, the Son, and the Holy Ghost,, I pronounce you man and wife.”

Then the brother of the bride read scripture for Roman 12:1-21. It talks about not conforming to this world. Love one another, etc.

Do you see the theme of all of this? The whole wedding was based from the Bible, even the songs, and the vows.

This reminds me of when the LORD comes again. Kings will bow down before Him and praise Him. They will honor Him, and call Him LORD.

Think on this:

  • We are not to conform to this world. This world seeks self- gratification, and power.
  • All will some day bow down before the LORD no matter what their rank or power may be.
  • We need to daily thank the LORD for His grace and love for us even though we may not deserve it.
  • The LORD gives us hope through His promises that He will return and bring us home.
