+Report from Jeff Schogol on his trouble trying to get an Afghan interpreter way from his country. They are threatening these people ahead of the final withdraw.

“On Thursday, I received a series of frantic texts from Sher Ahmad Ahmadzai, an Afghan man who worked for coalition forces, after someone threw a Molotov cocktail at his home.” That’s from Jeff Schogol, who wrote this piece about his inability to help Ahmadzai and other Afghans who risked their lives to help the United States and are now in danger of being killed by the Taliban.

“This story is difficult to write because journalists are rightly expected to not get involved in the stories we cover, and the modicum of help that I have tried to provide to Ahmadzai clouds my objectivity,” Jeff writes. “In a way, I’ve already failed at my job.”

When U.S. Marine Security Guards at American embassies around the world need backup, they call on the Marine Security Augmentation Unit. This may be your first hearing about the MSAU, but the unit’s been putting in a lot of flight time recently: in the past 30 days, the quick reaction force has responded to the call twice to protect embassies in Africa and the Caribbean.

A soldier with the 82nd Airborne Division is heading to a court-martial in connection with a murky incident in Syria last summer in which U.S. troops and pro-regime forces exchanged gunfire.

“We are all suffering in silence,” is how one soldier described the unseen problem of eating disorders in the U.S. military. The Army and other branches use outdated body fat measurements to judge soldiers’ fitness, which, when combined with PTSD, sexual trauma and other common military mental health issues, create a rampant eating disorder problem that has gone largely underreported until now.

The U.S. may be leaving Afghanistan, but the ‘Forever Wars’ aren’t really ending, writes defense expert Bonnie Kristian in this guest op-ed. Despite his statements about leaving Afghanistan, ending support for the Saudi war in Yemen, and leaving Iraq, President Joe Biden’s plans for doing so remain vague, and you can stuff a lot of violence into an absence of details, Kristian argues.

No excerpt today from my book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.

What I am going to to is give you an outline of the book to give you a taste of what is coming:

  1. The first section will basic training. I have many stories there. Some funny some not so funny. Many things to talk about.
  2. The second section will be being deployed to Korea. Some very sad stories there, and few humorous.
  3. The third section will be my states side time at FT. Bragg. One very scary time there, but good vibes most of the section.

Then I will have two appendixes:

  1. Interviews from the trenches. I have interviews from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Iraq. Many are heartbreaking. I also have an interview with a Gold Star mother I am working on right now. Pretty exciting.
  2. The second Appendix will be eight pages of resources for veterans. It will have every conceivable information you may be looking for.

Some more shocking news from our government:

Joe Biden has one plan for the military that could cause a mutiny

A key Republican in Congress blew the whistle about a growing problem in the military.

It’s a direct result of Joe Biden’s policies.

And that’s because Joe Biden has one plan for the military that could cause a mutiny.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby hinted that Joe Biden could mandate the coronavirus vaccine for every member of the armed forces if the FDA gives one the vaccines full approval.

Currently the COVID vaccines are only approved under an emergency use authorization which also limits the ability of the government to mandate members of the military take the vaccines.

“Should the FDA approve it then I am certain Pentagon leadership will take a look at what our options are going forward, including the potential options of making it mandatory. But I’m not going to get too far ahead of process right now,” Kirby stated during a press briefing.

Kentucky Republican Thomas Massie announced on social media that he would introduce legislation preventing the government from mandating members of the military take the vaccines.

Massie introduced the legislation after the Congressman revealed that members of the military contacted him with their concerns about taking the COVID vaccines and that they would refuse and leave the service.

“I’ve been contacted by members of our voluntary military who say they will quit if the COVID vaccine is mandated. I introduced HR 3860 to prohibit any mandatory requirement that a member of the Armed Forces receive a vaccination against COVID-19,” Massie wrote.

In 1996 the government mandated all 2.5 million military members take an anthrax vaccine approved under an emergency use authorization.

This led to lawsuits as service members refused and were discharged.

The problem was so great that one government report found 25 percent of airmen leaving the military at the time did so over the vaccine mandate.

“A General Accounting Office report released in October found that as many as 25 percent of the pilots and aircrew members leaving the military or seeking transfers were leaving because of the vaccination program. Pentagon officials disputed the report, saying there is no exodus of personnel because of fears about the anthrax vaccine,” CNN reported back in May 2001.

Seems to be a pattern coming from President Biden that shows he has no respect for our military. We will see what comes from all this mess.

Honors Marching Soldiers

During my basic training there was an opportunity to be an honor guard. I didn’t seek the position, but my drill sergeant told me I was going to try out. When your drill sergeant speaks, you listen.

I went to the first “work-out,” and quickly knew I had a rough load ahead of me. They not only had you doing constant, repetitive, drills, but your boots had to shine so much you could see you face in them.

I made the squad, and then we concentrated on things we would do while we were marching. We did cadence songs. There was the twirling of the rifles in mid-air. Then we also did a halted maneuver of putting our rifles to the ground and tapping them twice and then flipping them up to our shoulders in one movement

We were in a local parade in Monterey, California. This was the town near Ft Ord where I did basic training. We marched and sang our cadence. WE twirled our rifles in and tapped them on the ground. The crowd loved it, and we were very proud to be representing the Army.

Some people want to forget their time in the military. Many of them are Vietnam veterans. I was so ashamed of our country when I started hearing stories of grief and verbal attack our soldier had to endure when they came back from Vietnam.

I come from a military family. I had three uncles who fought in WWII. My brother and I served, and my son just retired recently as a Colonel.

No Military news today. Just me ranting and raving. 🙂

I am wondering what our government is thinking lately. President Biden, has said, “Cut the Military budget.” He wants the money for his infrastructure ideas.

Cutting the military budget for this will greatly hamper the military’s abilities to replace outdated equipment and give the soldiers the raise they need.

Doesn’t make much sense to me.

Kamala Harris finally went down south to what she calls the border. Where she went was to El Paso, Texas. That isn’t even close to a trouble spot. I have been to El Paso several times and never felt threatened by illegals.

She needs to go the hot spots and talk to the Border Patrol there to see what is really going on.

I am looking back a ways, but I was very disappointed when Biden called up thousands of the National Guard to “protect,” the Capital.

When they got there it was all over. No rioting, no thousands of protestors. Silence.

He kept them there for a couple of weeks or more. What a waste of your tax payers money.

Drafted Soldiers are Totally Different From the Enlisted Men

One of the interesting things while I was in the military were the drafted soldiers. They were selected in the lottery, or by age. If you were over a certain age you were safe. If you were in College they seemed to leave you alone, but if you were not you were prime bait.

There were a lot of bitterness coming from these soldiers. They didn’t want to be there and they let you know about it. Those of us that were enlisted got very tired of their whining, and had several “blanket parties,” because of it.

A blanket party is when a group of soldiers cover up another soldier with a blanket and roughed him up a little. A blanket party could also be when a soldier hasn’t showered for a long time even after all the rigorous training we had.

The draftees only had to serve two years. By the time you were through basic training and your MOS (your job) training you only has about one year left. You could almost do that standing on your head.

I felt like I was doing something good for my country, and for me as well. The military changed my life completely. I needed the structure. I needed the discipline. I needed the special training. I needed to get away from my safe haven at home, and learn more about the world. I got all of that in the three years I served. I felt the draftees should have thought about this themselves.
