I am going to talk about my upcoming book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.

It is almost finished.

I just need to organize the interviews into something that is readable. I also have to format the whole book, which I know nothing about, but I am contact with an editor who may know someone to do it for me.

When all that is finished it will be off to publisher. I have been talking to a publisher that is very interested. I am negotiating with them, and I believe they are the one I will go with.

I am now going to share with you another excerpt for the book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and out of the Trenches of Life.

This is from FT Bragg, my last base I was at before I transcend to private life. I only had about a month left and was feeling pretty good about where I was headed.

Then my world changed directions. We heard a call over the intercom for all personnel to report for formation outside of the headquarters.

We felt it was just another drill, but we moved fast because they timed us during drills. Found out it wasn’t a drill. The commander came out to talk to us. We never saw much of him.

He said, ” This is not a drill men. We have been informed by the President of the United States to be ready to be shipped to Cuba ASAP! The Bay of Pigs is to be our destination. You have one hour to pack all your gear and report back here. Dismissed!

I ran to get packed and made it back under the hour allocated. I thought maybe it had calmed down now, but instead they were loading us into buses to take us to the airport.

We got to the airport and started loading on the plane. My heart was pounding, and I could see on the other people’s faces that they were scared too.

We were all loaded on the plane and strapped in. The plane started its engines. We all started realizing that this was very real.

The plane started moving, and went to the spot where they would turn onto the take off runway. It revved it engines and I thought we were taking off.

Then the engines died down a little and we just sat there for it seemed like forever.

Then the pilot came on and said. “We are returning to the terminal. The Bay of Pigs has been aborted. ”

You could see the look of relief on all the men’s faces. some were even crying in relief.

I was going to share some more stats, and short stories about veterans, but today I am going to get you caught up on how my book is doing.

__________________________________________________________

I keep getting more endorsements by the day. Here’s a very appreciated endorsement from a daughter who lost her WWII father to suicide:

Learn from the best, Douglas Bolton, U.S. Army Veteran who has written a great book for all veterans, active duty service members of all branches, military families, friends and non-veterans. It provides a thorough understanding, knowledge, and the real stories among those who have served and their families that compliment today’s American Veterans.  Signs of Hope for the Military: In an Out of the Trenches of Life can make a big difference in today’s understanding of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and its affects.  As the daughter of Vietnam Marine Veteran that suffered all of his life with PTSD and then finally ended his own life, it will make a big difference in your life as you read the personal stories.  This author does a great job of creating a sense of urgency by calling it a “must-read,” and ends with a powerful “call to action” for the reader.

That really struck home with me. That is why I am writing the book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In an Out of the Trenches of Life.

There are over 22 veterans who take their own lives every day! Yes I said every day. That breaks ny heart, and hopefully this book will help some of them enough that they don’t take that final step.

I shared a story for my basic training recently. Now I wil share one of the stories of when I was deloyed to Korea.

I came to Korea in not too bad of weather. I would learn later what they meant by, “The land of the frozen Chosen.”

My first day at Camp Red Cloud

was scary of course. I knew no one! I fet like I was isolated on a tiny island. I got to my Quanset Hut, and unpacked. I was sitting on my bunk, when two guys came in. They were two very different guys. One looked like a line backer for football, and the other was very tall.

The line backer was from Alabama, and was black. The other was a “tall drink of water,” from Texas. They both looked very intiminating. I even wondered if this was a “hazing” like in college.

Instead they both walked up to me and reached out their hands for a shake. They both had a friendly look on their faces. They said they were glad I was there, and if needed anything to let them know. I was overcome with the greeting, and thank them for making me feel welcome

I stuck close to those two guys for the rest of my time in Korea. Why wouldn’t you want a linebacker, and a tall drink of water looking after you?

Those two guys would later get me into a lot of trouble. They loved to have fun, and they wanted me to be a part of it.

The Good Guys Are Losing the “War” in Portland, Oregon

I know that I am overdoing the reporting of the mess in Portland, Oregon, but it is breaking my heart. It has been over 100 days since the rioting first started and there is no end in sight. There have been people murdered, beaten, stores burnt down, and police officers being accosted.

People fear going outside. They see what is happening on the TV’s and it is right outside their doors.

President Trump has repeatedly offered to send in help to stop it. The governor and mayor have told him to leave them alone. Such weakness, is killing people.

As a veteran I KNOW what I would do and it wouldn’t be pretty. I am sure there are many of you who may agree with me. I would go in and start pushing back, and anyone that tried to stop us would be taken down and arrested. AND PROSECUTED!

Here is a side story that has me screaming. One of the antifascists (their name) shot and killed an innocent young man at point blank. The gunman got away. (Only because he was arrested for carrying a weapon. He was released the next day and not prosecuted.) That was about three days ago. Today there was a stabbing death of a young couple up in Washington. It was the same man that the local police in Portland had identified as the killer.

Because they released him without any charges he killed two more people.! I CAN NOT ACCEPT THAT. If they would had prosecuted him in Portland, the two people in Washington would still be alive, and they would also find out his was the killer in Portland. They should have put him away right there for the rest of his life.

I know this doesn’t have too much to do of what this site is all about, but maybe it is!!

I am going to get very political here. I hope I don’t lose too many of you.

I am fearing a civil war. A real civil war. Both sides of these happenings are very sure they are right and seem to think they would die for it.

The democrats are almost applauding the rioting. They think this will end the President’s White House visit. The democrats run every major city that is rioting. All of them want President Trump to leave them alone, because they think they are doing fine.

I need to stop here, and cool down! Sorry I ranted on you.
