Yesterday was a special day for me. I went to watch my granddaughter play tennis for her high school. It was very cold, and we were told that my granddaughter and her partner would be the last ones to play. I waited in the cold, and I wondered if I should be there freezing.

I was also told that non one wanted to play with her doubles partner. My granddaughter was chosen to do it. At first I was feeling like my granddaughter may not like it, but I was very wrong!

The match was an 8 game set, with the winner need to win 8 games and lead by two.

The match went back and forth. It was 3-2; them 4-4, and then it was 6-6. My granddaughter’s team broke the other team’s serve and it was now 7-6. To make the story more dramatic, my granddaughter was the one serving to win the match.  She won her game without out any problems.

Katie’s partner wasn’t able to win any of her serves. As a matter of fact she only got a couple of her serves in the right court.

Katie’s partner fought hard, and helped when she wasn’t serving.

This girl was getting applause every time she returned a ball to the other court. How could that be, when no one wanted to play with her? This girl only had one arm. Her right arm was gone from just below the elbow.

When the final point was made, the fans around the court all stood up and started applauding. Even the players from the other team applauded. My granddaughter and her partner did the impossible. They beat their opponent even though one of the members wasn’t able to win any of her serves.

As I watched Katie’s partner toss the ball high into the air, switch her racquet from under her right short arm to her left, and still get even a piece of the ball, I was amazed.

You see, this young lady didn’t see the handicap she had. She was participating in a sport where two hands were needed. She won the respect of not only the rest of her team, but all who was there.

My granddaughter was also my hero, because she agreed to play with this girl, and not only did they did well, they won!

You too can overcome obstacles if you really have the desire, and perseverance.

Don’ let any handicap slow you down. Use it to battle adversity, and conquer the walls you face.

Have you ever had one of those days when nothing went right. I am having one of those days today.

On my blog, www.dailysignsofhope.com I have had nothing but trouble. I am trying to post a great blog by one of our guest bloggers, and the site keeps going in and out. I just get something done, and try to save and POW the site goes out and every I put in is gone. Ten it comes back in and I am able to get in t few more lines.

I had to leave there before my blood pressure explodes! I will go back later and try again.

We all face these kinds of days.

You thought you had plenty of time to get to work, and then there is a crash on the freeway and you are stuck. (I have been there.)

The bill you thought you paid and mailed was slid under some papers, and then you get a late notice. (This happened to me yesterday!)

The biggest fish you have ever seen is on your hook. You are ready to net it, and the line snaps. (This also has happened to me.)

I am sure you can relate. You have your own stories.

Through all these troubles you can be assured of one thing. No matter how small, or big our troubles are, God is there with us to help us through them.

I needed to hear that myself this morning. I will now finish this up and attack my blog again. I know with God and perseverance I can finish that post and move on.

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

A few encouraging thoughts for you…

Signs of Hope is the title of my book, but what does it mean? It is very hard sometimes to find signs of any hope. There are wars going on. People are staving all over the world. Still others are suffering with the HIV virus. What can we be thankful for? where are the signs of hope?

The word hope can be broken down to give us some thoughts on the subject:

H- He is risen, and now we can have eternal life because of Him.

O- Only those who believe have peace and hope. They know that even after all the adversity we have to go through there is a place we will call home, that has no pain, or adversity.

P- Perseverance, and persistence are two of my favorite words. When we have both of those there aren’t any walls that can hold us, or keep us from God.

E- Everyone has an inheritance from God that believes. No one can ever take that away from you. You have a room prepared for you in heaven.

So HOPE is everywhere. Hope is in the sky; it is the hearts of many believers.; it is on the cross.

Don’t be discouraged about what is happening in our world. We are not part of this world. We are aliens, and strangers. Heaven is our future home. Be ready to spend eternity there with God.

Remember:

You are not alone.

You are not forsaken.

You are not unloved.

Above all…Never, ever, give up.
