I told you in my last post that I was going to spend all this post talking about my new upcoming book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.

This will be a complete recap of my last post I did on the book, which was about a month ago. Since that time the subscribing has increased by 300 followers.

The Outline:

The first section will be about my basic training. Lots of wild stories some funny. Some not so funny.

The second section will about being deployed to Korea. Much sadness, but some good times.

The third section will be about my time at FT. Bragg just before I left the military. One very scary story there and more funny stuff.

The fourth section will be full of interviews. I will have WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq interviews. Many of these will be very sad, but honest. I was even able to get a couple of funny ones in.

It will be about 200 pages long. I start each chapter sharing my experiences, and then relate them to the reader. I have been working on this book for three years. Lots of research and making phone calls. Many of the interviews are from all over the United States. I am guessing I have about ten or more different states represented.

This will be a little short tonight as I am very tired today, and I need to get some rest. Still on lock down, and I don’t want to mess it up now that we see the light at the end of the tunnel.

So before I go, let me know how you are doing my friend? Do you see hope?. Do you see the light at the end of the tunnel?

If not, do not worry, there are over 10,400 fellow veterans here, and they all have your back.

BUT, If you are overwhelmed right now with what is going on GET HELP!

Here is a toll free number to call 24/7. There are highly qualified counselors there to help you. They will not hang up until they know you are OK.

I am going to talk about my upcoming book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.

It is almost finished.

I just need to organize the interviews into something that is readable. I also have to format the whole book, which I know nothing about, but I am contact with an editor who may know someone to do it for me.

When all that is finished it will be off to publisher. I have been talking to a publisher that is very interested. I am negotiating with them, and I believe they are the one I will go with.

I am now going to share with you another excerpt for the book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and out of the Trenches of Life.

This is from FT Bragg, my last base I was at before I transcend to private life. I only had about a month left and was feeling pretty good about where I was headed.

Then my world changed directions. We heard a call over the intercom for all personnel to report for formation outside of the headquarters.

We felt it was just another drill, but we moved fast because they timed us during drills. Found out it wasn’t a drill. The commander came out to talk to us. We never saw much of him.

He said, ” This is not a drill men. We have been informed by the President of the United States to be ready to be shipped to Cuba ASAP! The Bay of Pigs is to be our destination. You have one hour to pack all your gear and report back here. Dismissed!

I ran to get packed and made it back under the hour allocated. I thought maybe it had calmed down now, but instead they were loading us into buses to take us to the airport.

We got to the airport and started loading on the plane. My heart was pounding, and I could see on the other people’s faces that they were scared too.

We were all loaded on the plane and strapped in. The plane started its engines. We all started realizing that this was very real.

The plane started moving, and went to the spot where they would turn onto the take off runway. It revved it engines and I thought we were taking off.

Then the engines died down a little and we just sat there for it seemed like forever.

Then the pilot came on and said. “We are returning to the terminal. The Bay of Pigs has been aborted. ”

You could see the look of relief on all the men’s faces. some were even crying in relief.

They are bringing more troops home from Iraq.

It is a good move to get our troops home for the holidays. I am hoping they will also start sending more troops home from Afghanistan.

They deserve to come home and be with family.

There was a shooting death

at the riots in Denver, Colorado yesterday. A man was shot in the face and killed instantly. The shooter was a hired security guard with Pinkertons security. Apparently the man shot had slapped the shooter in the face. Is that worth killing someone?

There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason for the violence, other than to cause chaos and destruction. It is not about black people being killed anymore. It is called Anarchies to the fullest.

I am worried

about our fellow veterans who are left out in the cold. I mean for real. There are far too many veterans who are homeless. Hard to explain why, but they are out on the streets having to beg for support. They served their country only to have to live out in the cold. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE!!!

_______________________________________________

I cover the homeless veterans in my new book

Signs of Hope for the military: In and Out of the trenches of Life. There is a whole chapter reaching out to them.

I also cover spouses who are left behind when there is deployment. I also speak about the male spouses who are left behind, and how it is harder for them.

An update on how the book is going.

I have a publisher that I am in contact with and they seem very interested. They sound solid, and if we can can agree on a few things we will work together.

I only have a few more interviews, and then to format the book. It has already been professionally edited.

I will keep you posted as to the actual publication date.
