This Pandemic is causing Havoc with Our Veterans

Since I last posted we have had 36 new subscribers. Welcome to all of you. We are now averaging over 15 new subscribers a day. I am proud to be your blogger, that wants the very best for each of you as veterans, or family members of veterans.

It has been a nightmare for those who are locked up and not able to get out to do things because of the virus. My State of Oregon is getting hit hard. The county I live in is a red hot spot for the virus. Second highest in the state.

As a veteran, who has underlining problems with my health, I have no choice. My wife and I go on walks. We get in our car and drive to no where just to get out. We do our grocery shopping online and go to the store, and they bring out what we ordered.

I fear that this Pandemic is causing havoc with those veterans who have their own battles of PTSD, TBI, Depression, Anxiety, etc. They are fighting their own, war only to have the enemy coming to their door.

Here are some suggestions to get your mind off of what is happening in the world.

  1. Do not turn the TV on and read. There are millions of great books at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and many smaller book stores online, like Powell’s Books in Portland Oregon.
  2. Write! This is a wonderful way to get “away.” I wrote my first book,Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World, just from some journals I had written, and it won a National Award from the Reader’s Favorite Awards. WRITE!
  3. Some have taken up art. You can draw or paint. I am not good at either, but you may have just what you need to relieve yourself of stress.
  4. Hand select movies on your TV that are uplifting and makes you laugh. We have a free movie section on our TV. I have watched a ton of them the last three months.
  5. Use Zoom, Skype, or any other connection, to talk to your buddies, or family. I have been doing this and it gives me hope and helps me smile.

I have been reaching out for months and the response is fantastic. Keeping joining me here to get help for veterans with PTSD, TBI, Depression, anxiety, war wounds, etc.

What is on your plate? Do you have days when you wish you could stay in bed? Are there times when the storms seem too strong? Do you feel uncomfortable around other people? You are certainly not alone.

Remember that you are a special person. There is no one else like you. You are unique.

If you buckle up and ride the world in the terrible way it is now, you will be a winner. You will stand above all the noise, and turmoil.

I have been near death!

Back in 2001, I was a basket case. I couldn’t function properly. I was driving my Ford Explorer one day and I was crying. I didn’t know why. It was getting pretty bad, so I turned into a high school parking lot and stopped. I was getting worse. The windows were all fogged up from my sobbing.

I was sitting there thinking of checking out of this hotel called earth.

I finally cried out to god, “ I can’t take this anymore!” Instantly I stopped crying and the windows started clearing up. It was if God said, “It is about time you came back to me . Now let me carry you the rest of the way.”

My life completely changed that day. I am not saying everything was rosy right away. I still had some struggles, but knowing that God was there with me, gave me strength to carry on.

I went home and opened my desk drawer, and saw some journals I had been writing. They were full of my hurts, but also some days that were good. I realized that this needed to be written. I wrote a book called, “Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World.” I was able to get it published. It went on to win a national award from the Reader’s Favorite Awards.

So now, I am on my second book that I started about three years ago. It is called, “Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.” It reaches out to all veterans who are seeking hope.

I will be updating you on the progress of this book, and share some excerpts from time to time. If you would like to read those excerpts, please subscribe at the top of this page where it says “Subscribe,” When you do all future posts will directly to your inbox.

It’s the New Year, and I am changing MY Approach

Starting today, I will be posting three times a week. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Later on I may go five posts a week, depending how things go with my new book, “Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.”

I am really excited how the new book is causing a buzz. Many veterans can’t seem to wait until it comes out. Why is that?

This book will be reaching out to those veterans and families who may be suffering from PTSD, TBI, Anxiety, A lost loved one, or depression. There are many more problems a veterans face, and those will be discussed as well.

The part of the book I am most excited about, are the interviews with veterans who have been in the trenches. I will have a whole section dedicated to them. I have interviews with WWII, Korean, Afghanistan, and Iraq veterans

Some of the stories are very sad. Others are funny.

I will be sharing excerpts from time to time to get you hooked!

So starting tomorrow will be my first full post of the new year.

If you don’t want to miss any of the posts, just subscribe at the top of this page. Then whenever I post you will get the post sent directly to your inbox.
