Shocking Interview with a WWII Veteran

The rioting in Portland, Oregon is shameful! Last night a young man was shot to death, because he was a Trump supporter. That is called murder.

The Mayor, Ted Wheeler, ( a Democrat, ) had the nerve to blame it on our President. Meanwhile, he has allowed the rioting go on for over 90 days now. What’s wrong with this picture??

I have had a wonderful thing happening on Facebook. In just this month only my followers have increased by over 2000. Who are they? Veterans, everyone of them . Such an honor. If you want to join them just go to Facebook and put my name in the search area.

I read today that two Russian jets flew with 100 yards of one of our B-52’s. That was pure intimation. I wonder what kind of message they are trying to send?

In some previous posts I have shared some interviews with veterans for my upcoming book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.

Here is another one. The reason I am featuring him today is that he was on the front page of my local newspaper this morning. The paper was featuring him because he just had his 100th birthday!

Bob Coury is a man I have known for over 65 years. He is local man from my home town of Salem, Oregon. The reason I have known him that long is that he opened a fast food restaurant in 1955 near where I live. It was called, Bob’s Hamburgers when it first started. I walked by it every day from school ans a Sophomore in high school. His hamburgers were only 19 cents each . My mom would give me a quarter and I would have a hamburger every time I went by each day. I still had six cents left which I save to build up for the next hamburger. We were poor back in those days, and my mother scrapped up that quarter every day for me.

Bob was also a veteran of WWII. He was a Captain, and the officer in charge of a unit of men who unloaded ships as they came into the Okinawa harbor. They were in great danger at all times. There were Kamikaze planes trying to crash into the ships they were unloading.

Here are parts of the interview I had with him:

I asked him how he felt as he unloaded each ship. “I worried about my men getting killed. I went on to ask how the Kamikaze plane affected his work “We had to watch at all times, and get off the ship if it looked like one of them was going to be successful in hitting the ship.”

I also asked him what was his scariest moment. “One day I fell off a ship and there was a barge right next to the ship. I fell in between the two ships. I had a hard time getting out of there before I drowned.”

There is much more to this interview. Keep looking here as to when the book is coming out.

I am sitting on my patio in the backyard. It is 89 right now. I am in the shade, but still feeling hot. Can’t be in the house, because there is a cleaning lady working in there.

I have talked to you before about Portland, Oregon. It is in my home state. I am embarrassed of what is going on.

Yesterday a little old lady had paint thrown into her face and was harassed by a jerk that was three times her size. Such a sick person to pick on little old ladies.

More and more veterans are getting involved with the rioting. They are there to try to stop the rioting, not escalating them. They are in harm’s way again, in a different way. However, several “Anarchist,” got bloodied up, and went running.

The Oregon State Police are now trying to stop the rioting. It has been 70 straight days of rioting there. I am sure that by now the rioters don’t even know what they are rioting for. They just like to intimidate, and harass.

In March of 2001, I was the end of my rope, I was hanging on for dear life. I was out of control and tired of being here on this hotel called earth. I was in my Ford Explorer, and crying my eyes out. I turned into a school parking away from everyone and contemplated ending my life. I told God, “I CAN’T TAKE THIS ANYMORE!”

Suddenly there was a calmness inside of the vehicle. I stopped crying and felt much better all of a sudden. It was if God was saying, “It’s about time you came back to me. Now let me lead you the rest of the way. “

That changed my life! I drove home and decided I needed to reach out to other people that were desperate like me and give them hope. My first book was published called, “Signs of Hope; Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World.” It later won a national award, from the Readers Favorite Awards.

How are you doing?

Are the days long and hard to handle? Are there times you feel you are not coping?

You have many fellow veterans here on this site. Some of them are going through what you are going through. They have your six, so reach out to them.

If it is too overbearing like it was for me, there is a toll free number to call 24/7. There are highly trained counselors there to help you.

I just got home from having the oil changed on my car. Different experience. I got there and there were people everywhere. They all had masks, so that was good. I turned my keys over to the service guy and sat down.

I tried to fill my time with my phone, but even that got boring. I went for a walk and found a machine to buy some food. That was a bust because I didn’t see that the chips were dipped in vinegar. It was too strong. Went directly to the dessert which was a Snickers bar. That calmed me down.

I know…not a good ! However, one can’t be choosy at a time like this. They did the oil change and I drove home. Pretty boring right?

That is what I see a lot on Facebook. Someone telling me what they had for lunch. REALLY?? Do I need to know what they had for lunch?

Anyway, I was so glad to have a morning where I wasn’t watching TV and seeing the rioting, statues being tore down, and shootings going on in our country.

It doesn’t seem to be getting any better. I am near Portland, Oregon, and all Hell has broken out there. WHY? Because the weak leaders are doing nothing. They even are getting mad because President Trump sent Federal Agents in to help stop the mess. The Mayor is suing Trump for sending them saying they are making it worse.

You and I both know that President Trump isn’t worried about that. He is worried about the police getting injured, and federal buildings being destroyed.

Should we send Federal Agents into other places like Chicago, NYC, Atlanta?

Let me know what you are thinking in the comments section below. None of your comments will be seen by the public unless you allow me to do that.

My next post will be full of places for you to go to get military discounts. They will be for anything you can think of. Do not miss it.
