“Another day; another dollar.”

That was a saying I remember from my childhood. Except they really meant it. A dollar went a long way back then. Now it costs way over a dollar just for a cup of coffee.

Over the years inflation has raised its ugly head. Now if you don’t make over the poverty line in the United States, you are in big trouble.

I just saw that Portland is still under siege.

Last night anarchist tore down two prominent statues. One was Teddy Roosevelt, and the other was Abraham Lincoln. Two great leaders from the past. Can’t be rioting for just for black people anymore when they destroy Abraham Lincoln’s statue.

It is just plain attempts to over throw our government to cause panic.

I think it is time to go in and clean up these messes once and for all. Bring in the National Guard, The Feds, or whom ever we need to end this nightmare.

Yes, they have President Trump losing

by double digits in the upcoming election, which is less than a month away by the way.

I am here to tell you that Trump will win in a landslide! No question about it. I have reasons why this will happen.

  1. So many voters are afraid to say they will vote for Trump, because of harm to be done if they do.
  2. Most of the polls are hand selected people that seem to be people who are anti Trump.
  3. Trump has been doing a great job. Why would anyone in the right mind vote otherwise?

These are all my opinions, but I am convinced I am right. We will know in a few weeks.

On RallyPoint…..

There is excitement in the air. President Trump is out to make our military stronger than ever. I saw many new missiles, rifles, tanks, and artillery that have been upgraded tremendously. For example: They now can have unmanned tanks guided by drones. No loss of life. These tanks are much faster; have stronger weapons, and thicker shells.

Another thing I noticed is that most of the RP members are Republicans.

If you want to join me on RallyPoint just go to: http://www.rallypoint.com, and sign up. It is free. It is an all military social network.

I was going to share some more stats, and short stories about veterans, but today I am going to get you caught up on how my book is doing.

I keep getting more endorsements by the day. Here’s a very appreciated endorsement from a daughter who lost her WWII father to suicide:

Learn from the best, Douglas Bolton, U.S. Army Veteran who has written a great book for all veterans, active duty service members of all branches, military families, friends and non-veterans. It provides a thorough understanding, knowledge, and the real stories among those who have served and their families that compliment today’s American Veterans.  Signs of Hope for the Military: In an Out of the Trenches of Life can make a big difference in today’s understanding of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and its affects.  As the daughter of Vietnam Marine Veteran that suffered all of his life with PTSD and then finally ended his own life, it will make a big difference in your life as you read the personal stories.  This author does a great job of creating a sense of urgency by calling it a “must-read,” and ends with a powerful “call to action” for the reader.

That really struck home with me. That is why I am writing the book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In an Out of the Trenches of Life.

There are over 22 veterans who take their own lives every day! Yes I said every day. That breaks ny heart, and hopefully this book will help some of them enough that they don’t take that final step.

I shared a story for my basic training recently. Now I wil share one of the stories of when I was deloyed to Korea.

I came to Korea in not too bad of weather. I would learn later what they meant by, “The land of the frozen Chosen.”

My first day at Camp Red Cloud

was scary of course. I knew no one! I fet like I was isolated on a tiny island. I got to my Quanset Hut, and unpacked. I was sitting on my bunk, when two guys came in. They were two very different guys. One looked like a line backer for football, and the other was very tall.

The line backer was from Alabama, and was black. The other was a “tall drink of water,” from Texas. They both looked very intiminating. I even wondered if this was a “hazing” like in college.

Instead they both walked up to me and reached out their hands for a shake. They both had a friendly look on their faces. They said they were glad I was there, and if needed anything to let them know. I was overcome with the greeting, and thank them for making me feel welcome

I stuck close to those two guys for the rest of my time in Korea. Why wouldn’t you want a linebacker, and a tall drink of water looking after you?

Those two guys would later get me into a lot of trouble. They loved to have fun, and they wanted me to be a part of it.

Running From God Only leads to a Dead End

If You Are Going the Wrong Way,

God Allows U-Turns

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out,

that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.

Acts 3:19

Time is always ticking away! In my home we have a battery-operated clock that makes a loud ticking noise for every second of the day. The clock had been right at my computer desk and I could hear it as I worked. It made me think that my life was slowly going by. What have I done with my life? My life was ticking away, and I could see (and hear) each second go by.

The clock got moved into the utility room, but not before its cadence of marking time prompted me to do a “bed check” of my life. Bed checks are something that all military people understand. As you sleep, the barrack sergeant comes through and makes sure everyone is in bed—to make sure everything was OK.

So now every day I do a bed check to see if I am OK. It is so easy to “slide” if I don’t constantly check up on myself.

We tend to get all fired up about our commitment to God, even go to the church altar for prayer. We have a close encounter and are very happy. Life is good and we’ll serve God forever.

Then we get very busy and miss a few Sundays at church. Bible study gets scheduled on the evening all of our friends get together to play Bunco or go bowling—or whatever. We rush out of the house in the morning and collapse into a chair when we get home at night. There’s just no time for reading the Bible and praying.

Eventually, we fail “bed check.” We get wrapped up in our own world and get in touch with God only when there is a crisis. He will still be there to help, but our lives have lost their real meaning. We have allowed ourselves to go into a spiritual twilight zone.

Time is ticking away. There is no way to buy it back. Once it is gone, it is gone forever. But as long as God gives us another breath, it is not too late to turn around and get back into the loving arms of God. Our God is an awesome God. He loves us very much, and He will be there to accept us in whatever state we have allowed ourselves to lapse into.

As we get back into the center of His love and try to walk in His path, we will have done a spiritual U-turn.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:18

I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Luke 15:7

Further adventures

Do your own bed check. Think about the direction you are going. Do you need to make a U-turn? God allows you to get back in His love any time you want to seek Him more. His love is everlasting. He never forgets you. He never turns His back on you. After all, He even knows every hair on your head doesn’t He? Make that big turn and drive (or dive) into the loving arms of your heavenly Father.

Something to ponder

Isn’t it funny that if we confess our sins to God, He is faithful and just enough to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong?
