Here is another excerpt from my upcoming book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.

White Lightning in West Virginia

While I was stationed at Ft Bragg, North Carolina, we went on maneuvers in West Virginia. We were out in the country hills right in the middle of farm land.

We had time off on one of the days there so a couple of others guys and me went on a walk through the farm land. As we came around a bend, we saw some men sitting up on a hill in lawn chairs laughing and carrying on. We thought we might as well get to know some of the locals.

As we got closer we saw that the men had rifles leaning up against their chairs. I started thinking about the movie, Deliverance. They were all in overalls, and were smoking pipes with who knows what in them. Beards were the style for all of them. They would fit right in with the people of, Duck Dynasty.

We said hi, and they invited us to sit with them for a while. I noticed one of them was drinking out of a Mason jar. It looked like water, but I knew better. One of my friends asked what it was. “We call it White Lightning, here,” said one of the men who looked like he may be the elder of the group.

I was such a naïve young man, that I had no idea what they meant by the term White Lightning. They laughed when I asked them.

They said I should take a taste of it to see for myself. They handed me a jar, and I took a sip. I thought my insides were going to explode. I made some kind of noise, because all the Virginia guys laughed when it looked like I was going to heave.

However,  the guys with me were “veteran,” drinkers and they tried a taste. They really liked it and drank the whole jar full. It wasn’t long before they started acting “silly.”

One of them liked it so much he asked for a refill. The “farmers,” had no trouble doing that. My friend sat there and drank another full jar of the concoction. He was getting very dizzy and incoherent about that time.

Then he started screaming, “I am going blind!” He said he couldn’t see. The hosts didn’t seem to get too worried. They said it is common to go temporarily blind for those who are new at drinking it.

It wasn’t funny for my group, and we helped our blind friend back to the camp area. He eventually got his sight back. It must have been interesting for him to explain how he was blinded in the first place.

In life we can start slowly doing things we maybe shouldn’t be, and think that it is OK. We keep doing the things we know we shouldn’t be doing, and then we see we are in too deep and fall.

It is no different than drinking White Lightning. It seems harmless at first, but then we are blinded by the force that has overcome us.

Be careful to always check out what is happening around you, wherever you may be. There things that look innocent, and yet can lead you down the wrong path.

Sitting on a Military Plane Ready to Fly to the Bay of Pigs

I know of some of the fears you face or have faced as a soldier. I have had my share of scary times while in uniform for my country.

I had put in three years of active duty, and was very near to my discharge date while at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. As a matter of fact the discharge date was just days away.

It seemed like a normal day of “putting in your time,” but then there came a sound that I never want to hear again. It was the intercom in our section of the company I was stationed with saying, “This is an alert.” This is not a drill, all personnel report to headquarters for a briefing right away.”

I couldn’t think of why there would be any problems that serious happening, and still thought it was a drill as I ran towards the headquarters building.

When we all assembled, the commander went to the podium and spoke.

“I am here to inform you that all leaves and weekend passes are concealed. We have received a message from the commanding General of the Army to stand by for a possible mission to the Bay of Pigs. This is a very serious mission, which will put you in combat and in harm’s way. Our unit is being deployed, to help monitor the security of the communications while there. We will serve in the field headquarters of the mission. You have about two hours to go home to pack your full field clothes and equipment. Dismissed!”

That was it. No more explanations or chances to ask questions.

I drove home quickly, packed all my gear in a duffel bag.

I got back to the headquarters, and it looked like pandemonium and chaos had sat in, with soldiers running everywhere.

A few minutes later everyone had made it there and we were all in formation. The commander then told us to come to attention.

We all headed to buses that were waiting to take us to the military airport on base. When we got there, we unloaded and marched to the area of several planes. They had us board the planes with full gear and field uniforms on. The pilot came on to tell us that we will be in a combat area when we land at the Bay of Pigs.

I sat down in my area, and was holding my weapon (M-1 rifle) between my legs. I was numb with fear and anxiety. I had never thought I would actually be in a conflict where I could die.

The plane started its engines. The plane shook as the engines roared to get up to the speed they needed to get off the ground. It taxied to the runway and stopped.

Then we waited for the pilot to push the throttle. We sat there for what seemed like hours. I could see the fear, in the eyes in the soldiers around me. I was only about twenty years old then, and began to see my life unfold before me. I had thoughts of not coming back. I had thoughts of my loved ones I would never see again.

The plane was shaking from the vibrations of the motors. I said a prayer because it looked like we were going to take off. The plane was moving. However, it was not going done the runway. It was heading back to the area where we boarded.

The pilot came on the intercom and said that the mission had been aborted, and we were going back to our companies.

I felt such relief along with men and women around me who were yelling for joy. We were safe and heading back to our homes.

****************************************************************************

I only shared this story because I know some of you have gone through the same thing. You also have been sent into combat, and faced the fear of not coming back. I was very lucky, but many of you actually left the ground in your plane, and headed into harm’s way.

Fear is something that is hard to control. Even the most-brave face it. We all have been there in some capacity.

It could be the doctor’s appointment that has information on your health. It also could be the times when you have to leave your loved ones for any mission. It may be the crises of your marriage when your spouse is tired of going through the pain of wondering if you will come back alive.

Did you know that Jesus faced fear? He even asked God to take away the fear by relieving Him of the cup of the responsibility God had placed on Him. He sweated blood during that prayer. God heard the prayer, but let Jesus go through the fear, pain and agony of going to the cross and dying for you and me.

I am not making it sound like we shouldn’t be afraid. I know we are quite often. I am not saying you are a bad person if you are afraid of something. We all have our spots where we fear the unknown.

I think that is the key. It is the “unknown.” It’s not knowing what will happen next.

What I have learned from so many times of facing fear that 99% of what we fear never happens. We just need to give the other 01% over to God.

Is it that simple? I can honestly tell you that it is. God has big shoulders. He wants to take the burdens of our day away from us. We just need to depend on Him to keep His promises and know that He will never put us in a situation that we can’t handle with His help.

President Biden is Saying There is a Mandate For the Marines to Get their Shots

Military news…

Had to share this article stating that they will mandate virus shot for the Marine Corp. Could be a disaster for our Country.

Joe Biden made one giant change to the Marine Corps that could lose a war to China.

Joe Biden’s done everything in his power to weaken America. But now he’s attacking the armed forces. And Joe Biden made one giant change to the Marine Corps that could lose a war to China.

Joe Biden’s authoritarian vaccine mandate reached the United States Marine Corps.

The Marine Administrative message posted on the Marine Corps website revealed that any Marine not fully vaccinated or receiving an approved religious or medical exemption by the November 28 deadline for active-duty marines will be booted from the Corps and could face a potential court marital.

“Marines refusing the COVID-19 vaccination, absent an approved administrative or medical exemption, religious accommodation, or pending appeal shall be processed for administrative separation [in accordance with] this MARADMIN and supporting references. General Court-Martial Convening Authorities (GCMCA) retain authority to take any additional adverse administrative or disciplinary action they deem appropriate,” the message read.

This new rule makes no exception for natural immunity and forces young and healthy soldiers – one of the least at-risk groups in America – to take a vaccine they may not need or want.

Biden’s intention to force every person in America to take the vaccine as a form of social control that has nothing to do with public health became clear, because as of October 20 the Marine Corps has not approved one single religious exemption to Biden’s military COVID vaccine mandate.

Joe Biden wants to force all active duty and reservist members of the Marine Corps to take the vaccine as a power flex to purge anyone that may not have voted for Joe Biden from the armed forces.

A rational policy would exempt those with natural immunity as multiple studies from multiple countries shows natural immunity is stronger than the vaccine.

Ok! I hear you. I will share another excerpt with you. Thank you for sharing.

Desperate People do Desperate Things

I saw some other frightening things happening in Seoul, South Korea.

We had to drive very slowly through some of the tight streets, as you could see fathers and mothers holding their children ready to throw them in front of our trucks, to get compensation money from the military. Yes, they were sacrificing their children for money.  How could anyone even think of doing that?

They were desperate for food and clothing for the rest of their family. They had no means of income, and they had to find ways to survive.

We see similar types of things going on all over the world. There are people allowing their children to be bought a love slaves. Other people pay money to crooks so they can sneak them across borders to find jobs.

Isn’t this what we are fighting for? Aren’t we fighting for a freedom of choice?  Freedom for a life that is free of fear? Do we need to have people be so poor that they will let their children die, or be sold into slavery?

Of course not! We put on our uniforms to protect these kinds of people. We are doing what is right by defending them to the death.

We don’t have to toot our own horn because we are doing heroic things. We will receive our just rewards when the right time comes. God knows every move we make, and He sees how people in the military are seeking to protect, and help people have a better life. Never be ashamed of your service to your country. You have been chosen to represent your country in a way that shows courage and a kind of love that passes all understanding
