Military news…

A pregnant National Guard soldier who was sleeping at her battalion’s armory while her unit was out conducting annual training was left without food or transportation for days. The soldier’s husband gave Haley more details about how her supervisors “didn’t do the bare minimum” of at least leaving her some food or a way to get food while the rest of her unit was training.

America has less than 80 days to keep its promise to evacuate Afghan interpreters and their families from Afghanistan  The interpreters will most likely be killed by the Taliban if they are captured once U.S. troops leave the country on Sept. 11, a deadline which is fast approaching. As one Marine veteran in Congress said, President Biden’s administration “should have started [the evacuation] months ago.”

*Not sure president Biden cares.

Short military news today because I want to share some personal thoughts…

  1. I am extremely worried on the direction our government is going as to support for our military. Many have said that President Trump was the most supportive military president ever. Others have said that President Biden is the worst.
  2. Doing my interviews for my upcoming book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life, I have found that many Vietnam veterans have turned down their Purple Heart medals. The common reason is that they had friends that died and they are still alive. I believe they should be accepting those medals. My main question to each veterans is, “What would your buddy that was killed say.”
  3. I watched a movie last night about the bomb squads that were in Iraq looking for explosives. I learned to totally respect those men who did that. Many times it is a life or death situation.
  4. I have probably shared this before, but I am part of a military family going back to WWII. I had three uncles who fought in WWII. Two of them received the Purple Heart. That inspired me to enlist and serve. My son also devoted his life to the military, and retired as a Colonel.

“One second he may be asking about your family, and the next time he will be telling you that he hates the sound of your voice, that you’re f–king retarded.” That’s what one sailor had to say about Navy Cmdr. Frank Azzarello, the former commanding officer of the destroyer USS Forrest Sherman. An investigation found that Azzarello ‘crossed professional lines’ and harassed his sailors.

“The only advice I think I gave him was to do the very best that he could and then to do a little more.” That’s what living Marine Corps legend Hershel “Woody” Williams told his great-grandson Cedar Ross before Ross began Marine Corps boot camp earlier this year. The 97-year-old Williams was awarded the Medal of Honor for repeatedly assaulting Japanese positions during the battle of Iwo Jima in February 1945. But his age didn’t stop him from seeing Ross graduate from boot camp last week.

Healing the hidden wounds of war
Founded in New York City in 2012, The Headstrong Project was created to help military veterans and their families overcome PTSD and other military-related traumas. The founders of Headstrong saw a deep need for mental health services for post-9/11 veterans. They also saw a large gap between the care that was available and veterans’ access to it.

“Gender affirming care is also a life-saving necessity for some veterans, as supported by leading medical experts.” That’s from veterans’ advocate Jennifer Dane. the Department of Veterans Affairs is moving to eventually offer gender-confirmation surgery for transgender veterans. At least one federal lawmaker attacked the VA for doing so, but the grounds of his argument may not be as solid as he thinks.

A a sidebar thought from me….

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez revealed this scary plan for the U.S. military

Democrats have their eyes on fundamentally transforming the U.S. military.

That’s bad news for America.

And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez revealed this scary plan for the U.S. military.

Right now America faces a rising Communist China.

The communist government in Beijing believes it will one day eclipse the United States and that it will develop military superiority.

There are currently worries that Communist China can launch a military invasion at any moment to seize control of the nation of Taiwan and the American military would be powerless to stop it.

In fact, war games from the U.S. government show the Communist Chinese military defeating the American armed forces in any conflict over Taiwan.

Despite this reality, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and admitted that far-left Democrats plan to cut the military budget when Congress debates spending bills for the fiscal year 2022.

“[W]e’ve got appropriations season coming up, funding and critical agencies that progressives want deep reform in. We’ve got the defense budget coming up. We’ve got DHS coming up. We’ve got a lot of these different big bills, that have — from agencies where there have been lots of concerns. And so, I think we’re pacing ourselves right now. Because progressives do want to bring down the military budget. We want a $15 minimum wage. We want to make sure that we expand Medicare and that we lower — at bare minimum lower the age. I would like Medicare for all,” Ocasio-Cortez stated.

This is the true definition of America Last.

Military news…

The German military has to deal with a very German problem: What to do with 65,000 cans of beer at its base in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan? In this amazing story about our NATO ally, about the enormous quantity of alcohol that Germany wants to withdraw from the country before the scheduled departure date for coalition troops on September 11. There would be much less around if only American troops could help um, get rid of the booze.

Yes, the Marines have to learn the correct way to open and close doors. That is, if you are a Marine sentry guarding the White House, where opening doors is one of many duties they must execute with robot-like precision. In this story, James Clark takes us behind the scenes of what it’s like to prepare for the most public parade ground on the planet, where even opening a door has to be done with style.

I remember when I was a recruit. That was 65 years ago. I was only 18 and super naive.

The military made me into a man. I learned discipline. I learned honor and country. I learned that there are brothers to protect as they protect me.

I learned some things the hard way.

I had never left my home state of oregon. When I was deployed to South Korea, I was pretty much in shock.

Total different culture. Totally different the way the people looked.

One thing I learned quickly is to question people before you move forward. I had one incident that had me grow up overnight.

I came into Camp Red Cloud in South Korea, and was lost, of course. They directed me to my quinsite hut, and I started to unpack.

About half way through two guys came in looking like players for the 49er’s.

I was guessing this was a hazing. I was very wrong. These two guys came up and shock my hand to welcome me to Camp Red Cloud. They were very friendly and polite.

The next night, they invited me to go with them to the Camp bar. I thought it was a good idea to say yes, so I could be a part of the group.

We got to the bar, and they bought me a couple of beers. Then oneof them went up to the bar and ordered three drinks. He brought them to our table and said, “Drink up!”

I had no idea what kind of drink it was. I was gray and ugly.

I had a sip, and my head exploded. The other guys laughed, and challenged me to keep drinking with them. Again, wanting to be accepted I took a couple more sips.

After the fourth gulp, I went into a blackout. I never remembered the rest of the evening.

I woke up the next morning lying next to the tire of a deuce and a half truck, doing the dry heaves.

Welcome to camp!!
